⚡ High school volleyball is getting disrespected by club players and it's creating athletes who don't understand the full game.
Here's why both matter and where players are getting it wrong 👇

1. Club volleyball gives you exposure and competition level, but high school volleyball tends to teach you how to handle pressure in front of a hostile crowd. Playing in a packed gym with students screaming at you is a different mental game than a quiet convention center.

2. High school coaches sometimes have less technical knowledge than club coaches, but they often develop better team chemistry because you're with the same group for months. Club teams that practice twice a week and only see each other at tournaments can struggle with communication under pressure.

3. The biggest mistake club players make is skipping high school or not taking it seriously. College coaches have mentioned they want to see how you perform when you're the best player on a weaker team. Can you lead? Can you elevate your teammates? Club volleyball doesn't always answer that question.

4. High school seasons can expose weaknesses that club volleyball hides. If you're only playing with elite teammates at club, you might not realize you can't pass well or that your volleyball IQ needs work. High school forces you to do everything, and that could be valuable for your development.

5. The recruiting timeline favors club because that's where D1 coaches are watching, but high school accolades still matter for local and regional programs. Being all-conference or all-state shows consistency over a full season, not just performance at a few big tournaments.

6. Club volleyball fees are pricing out talented players who could compete at high levels. High school is free and accessible. Some of the grittiest, most competitive players come from high school-only backgrounds because they had to fight harder for every opportunity.

7. The travel commitment for club can burn players out by the time they reach college. High school volleyball's shorter season might actually keep your passion for the game stronger long-term. Burnout is real, and playing 10-11 months a year from age 12 onward seems to contribute to it.

8. Both have value, but pretending one is superior is probably limiting your growth. The best players seem to take high school seriously for leadership and mental toughness, and use club for skill development and exposure.
