A central minnesota based youth hockey team focusing on developing the skills and on ice confidence of young hockey players of all skill levels thru structured practices, scrimmages and tournaments. Equal play, no favoritism and having fun are more important than trophies to us, these are our team values.

It’s tough to watch a season slip away. Losses hurt. Expectations fall short. But what hurts even more is when a losing season becomes less about growth and more about ego.

This year wasn’t what anyone hoped for. The record didn’t reflect the effort these athletes put in. But instead of turning that adversity into an opportunity — to create lasting memories for our seniors who will never get this time back, or to develop the younger players who are the future of the program — the focus shifted somewhere else.

It became about proving a point. About control. About protecting pride.

Our seniors deserved moments they could carry with them long after the final whistle — leadership opportunities, meaningful playing time, and the chance to finish strong regardless of the scoreboard. Our younger players deserved development, mentorship, and real-game experience to build confidence and skill for the seasons ahead.

A losing season can still be a successful one if it’s handled with humility and vision. It can build culture, strengthen bonds, and lay foundations for the future. But when decisions are driven by ego instead of growth, everyone loses more than just games.

Leadership isn’t about protecting your image. It’s about serving your players — especially when things aren’t going your way.

I hope moving forward we remember that seasons end, but the impact on young athletes lasts a lifetime.

Some lessons don’t come from losses on the field—they come from broken trust.

A coach lied, and because of it, an opportunity was missed. That stings. It hurts. And it could’ve been enough to make someone quit. But not this time.

One setback, even caused by someone else’s dishonesty, will not stop a dream. What was meant to delay will only build more hunger, more focus, more drive. The path might change, but the destination doesn’t.

Dreams don’t disappear because of one person’s choices. They wait for resilience. And this journey is far from over. 💯🔥

A losing season is disappointing—but it’s also an opportunity. When a coach *doesn’t* use that time to develop younger players and prepare for the future, that says a lot.

Good coaches think beyond the scoreboard. They build depth, give young athletes real reps, teach through mistakes, and set the foundation for next season. Bad seasons happen. Wasted seasons don’t have to.

If a coach rides the same lineups to the end while the future sits on the bench, that’s not leadership—it’s short-sighted coaching. Development is the job. Preparation is the job. And refusing to do either is proof the job isn’t being done well.

Sometimes a coach can get blinded by familiarity. Playing the same talent over and over feels safe—but it can cost the team more than they realize.

True talent can sit on the bench, grinding in silence, never getting the opportunity to show what they’re capable of. Growth doesn’t happen when chances are limited to the usual names. It happens when courage meets curiosity—when a coach is willing to look past comfort and give others a real shot.

Because hidden talent isn’t untalented. It’s just unheard. And all it needs is an opportunity. 💭💪

Coaches food for thought

Great leaders don’t just trust the familiar—they create space for the unseen. Because potential ignored is brilliance never born

Not all talent is loud. Some of it waits quietly for a chance. If you never give it one, you’ll never know what you missed

Hidden talent doesn’t lack ability—it lacks opportunity. You’ll never discover what someone has if you never let them show it

Here’s to the next stage!

For parents that wonder what coaches go thru. Remember this next time you question why coaches do what they do.

Have I ever questioned what another coach does—- I have and so has everyone with a kid that plays. Just keep in mind what is truly important.

Parents most of you know I always post this time of year what our plans are for the following spring. While I will not be a part of the Monkeys program since I am moving to Arizona. I have passed the program on to Tyler Cook who is fully capable of moving forward with the program. He will be taking over the MN Twisters program name and logo and will be running a Monkeys style skills program. If you enjoyed Monkeys you will enjoy what Tyler has planned for the Twisters Skills Program. I ask you to please follow his new link below. I will still be posting to the Monkeys page and finding the best deals for gear, answering questions from families and still be active in the youth hockey world. I just have to focus on what Tyler does after high school this year and Dawn's health with getting her to a warmer climate.

I do want to thank everyone that helped me help all the kids we did over the years. I will never forget all of the fun times on ice with your kids. Stay safe and Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Click the link below-- Tyler will be posting his skills program and AAA offerings for 2026 very soon.
