You heat the RockTablet first: about 30 minutes on high on a stovetop, or over an open fire until the stone turns white. That is the only heat the system needs.
From there the stone goes in the bottom of the vessel, your food goes in the inner pot above it, and the lid latches. It cooks for up to 8 hours.
