DAVID BENAVIDEZ PUNISHES ZURDO RAMIREZ WITH A RAPID FIRE OFFENSIVE ONSLAUGHT EN ROUTE TO SCORING A SIXTH-ROUND KO TO CAPTURE THE WBA/WBO CRUISERWEIGHT WORLD TITLES
David Benavidez 32-0 (26 KO's) produced a superstar-making performance in last night's Cinco de Mayo weekend Prime Video/DAZN pay-per-view headliner versus two-division former World Champion Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez 48-2 (30 KO's).
Benavidez's blistering hand speed and thudding combination punching were on full display in front of a lively crowd at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 29-year-old Mexican Monster overwhelmed the naturally larger Ramirez from the opening round and inflicted serious damage with a two-fisted offensive onslaught that produced a pair of knockdowns - the second of which in the sixth round that was the result of a series of left hands to the badly damaged right eye of Ramirez kept the game Mexican down for the count.
With his signature victory thus far, Benavidez captured the unified WBA/WBO Cruiserweight World Titles formerly belonging to Ramirez while in the process making history by becoming the first fighter to win major titles at: Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight & Cruiserweight.
Benavidez established himself as the new must-see attraction in Boxing last night and as a result of the jaw-dropping performance the Phoenix, AZ native turned in, high-profile lucrative bouts against the notable name fighters willing to take on a monstrous challenge likely are in store with Benavidez primed to headline significant annual holiday occasions for years to come.
