Please be careful on and around the water with these cold temps!

Float to Live:
F - Fight your instinct to thrash around
L - Lay back
O - Open into a starfish position
A - Action! Swim to a safe place to get out of the water, or back in kayak
T - Time to calm your breathing

For dogs:

​The "Safe" Zone (60° – 75°)
​Most dogs can swim comfortably for long periods here.
​60°: This is the general cutoff for comfortable swimming. If you wouldn't want to wade in it, your dog might find it chilly.

​Cold Water: The "100 Rule"
​A common rule of thumb is that the Air Temp + Water Temp should equal at least 100°.
​45° – 55°: Survival is fine, but it’s brisk. Limit swims to under 15 minutes. Double-coated breeds (Labs, Huskies, Goldens) handle this much better than thin-haired breeds (Greyhounds, Boxers).

For humans:

Life jackets worn help significantly along with quick dry clothing. Polyester, fleece, and neoprene are good choices. Avoid cotton, denim, and flannel. Dress for immersion. Water temps are around 60°, cold water shock can occur at 70°.

Plus, this weekend, winds are getting dangerous late Saturday morning through Sunday.
