Central Kansas United’s historic 12-3-2 season came to an end in the UPSL National Tournament semifinals, but the club’s run to the Final Four established a new standard for the organization.

WOW… what a historic season!

Plenty of lessons learned this weekend. From being inches away from playing for a National Championship to getting humbled by the defending champions… we loved every second of it. If there’s one thing this weekend proved, it’s that WE BELONG HERE.

This CKU team had nothing handed to them. We fought our way into the Final Four and showed that a club from a small Kansas community can compete with the best in the country. And we did it while missing two starters who had already moved on to play Division I soccer, which is exactly what we hope to help our players achieve. We started two 17-year-olds who came through our academy, and we were the only Final Four team not from a major metropolitan area or paying our players.

We may not have brought home the trophy, but we’re going home with our heads held high. We WILL be back.

After a tough battle against Deportivo Rose City, the buffs fell short from a 94th minute goal. Although the outcome was not as we had hoped, we have still earned the opportunity to play for third place this Sunday. We remain proud of our run this far and refocus for sunday.
