REMINDERS for athletes competing at FitCon: Early Weigh-ins for the American Open Grappling Tournament Saturday will actually start 24 hrs earlier on Friday at 10am-11:30am. There will also be a later weigh in Friday from 5-7pm. As always there are same day weigh-ins on Saturday from 8-9am. The weigh in area will be at the same location as the Grappling Tournament in Hall 4 of the Salt Palace. Please plan accordingly! The tournament will kick off at 10am with a rules brief by the Head Referee, Tony Ventrano, and then immediately the No-Gi contest will start with Kids, Women and Men brackets in that order. Once No-gi is complete, the Gi contests will commence. Again, if you plan on competing at the tournament, and want to be on the athlete list to get into the FitCon venue FREE on both Friday and Saturday, you need to register by Thursday 5pm. If not, you may still enter the tournament, but will have to purchase a general admission ticket to get into the venue. As always verified Black Belts compete FREE. All competitors may challenge higher skillsets and weight class brackets for no additional entry fees. All sweeps, throws, and submissions are legal with the exception of a few constraints which Tony will explain at the rules brief. Registration portal is at: utahgrappling.com

The FitCon Grappling American Open is next weekend! Register online at UtahGrappling.com before Wednesday so we can get you on the Athlete list to enter FitCon for free both Friday and Saturday! If you enter the event once FitCon starts, you’ll have to purchase a general Admission ticket to enter the venue like everyone else. Black Belts compete free. All throws, Sweeps (a couple stipulations), and submissions are legal. All athletes may continue competing unlimited matches challenging higher weight classes, divisions and skill-sets without additional entry fees. Cash prizes for Ultimate Champions!

The USGF American Open registration is now open for FITCON 2018! Please see info on poster below. Register online at utahgrappling.com! Any questions please send email to [email protected] with subject line: FitCon Grappling. This year we will have $500+ prizes for Absolute Champions, and Championship Belts to go along with individual medals for weight classes/divisions. As always, FitCon will allow all submissions, throws, and sweeps for intermediate and advanced skill levels in NoGi (and Blue thru Black in Gi)! Grapplers may move up to challenge higher skill levels and weight classes (free of additional entry fees)....and verifiable Black Belts will compete for free!

The US Grappling Federation held it's Rocky Mountain Regional event this weekend at FitCon St. George! Congrats to all the medal winners! The Absolute Men's Champion was Rodrigo Gutierrez from Las Vegas; and the Absolute Women's Champion was Chelsea Kilpack from Salt Lake City!
