It’s been a minute since we’ve done a , so we figured… why not make it a Women’s History Month edition?!

Today we’re showing some love to a few of the incredible women in the RIDC community who are out here putting in the miles, building community, and making moves in the running world.

Medals are cool, but the impact the women in our community have? Even better.

Tap through to celebrate them with us. And while you’re here… tag a woman in the running community who’s doing it big so we can show her some love too!

In 2023, RIDC examined the underrepresented experience in trail running. For us, the freedom to run means more than access. It means moving through spaces confidently, and with a sense of safety and belonging.

Our findings were clear: Despite the trail running community’s momentum and growth, a participation gap remains among BIPOC runners, shaping who shows up on the trails and who feels reflected in the sport’s culture and future.

This work led us to ask: What can the industry do to help more runners see themselves as part of the trail running community? From that question, we created “Freedom to Run: Back Outside” an industry case study and toolkit.

Check out the full case study and toolkit at runningdiversity.com or click the link in bio.

Thanks to the support from , , , , and .

Building on industry research and lived experience, we’ve turned insight into action. The information is no longer the barrier. The future of trail running will be shaped by what we do with it.

We (🫵🏽 you included) did it!!

So much love, support, and hard work went into opening HARAKA Run & Walk in Hyattsville, MD.

Kudos to Carol and Jesse Holland on turning their dream of opening a running store into reality (in Carol’s hometown) through RIDC’s RUN THE BLOCK program.

Last but certainly not least, ain’t no community like the PG COUNTY (+ DMV) community!! Y’all showed UP with so much PRIDE online and in person. As the mayor and public officials who joined us said: let’s keep showing up for HARAKA and all small businesses! We Outside!! 🙏🏾🤜🏾🤛🏿👏🏾🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏻🏃🏿‍♂️

When we announced that Haraka Run and Walk was opening its doors, the RIDC community showed up in the comments with love, pride, and pure excitement. And honestly? We felt every bit of it!

Prince George’s County is getting its first Black-owned running specialty store, and that matters. Representation matters. Access matters. Community matters.

On Saturday the 21st, we get to celebrate it together with !

If you’ve ever said you wanted to see more Black-owned running stores…
If you’ve ever said your community deserves more…
If you believe in building what we want to see…

This is the moment.

Pull up. Bring your run crew. Bring your family. Bring that same energy from the comments in real life.

Let’s pack the store. Let’s make it loud. Let’s make it known.

See you Saturday!
