2007 – Senior Year

At this point, I think I finally figured it out—“I understand it now” 😂. But I’m pretty sure my coach still hadn’t, and I love him like a dad! Stanley Bell and Mario Cash for putting in work on that 🏝️ .

We played our last series of the year before the tournament against Florida Gulf Coast. I played in both games, but I was the DH in the first one. I hated DH’ing—I wanted to be on the field, I wanted the ball every play. I hit best when I was in the field too.

OK, keeping it real… maybe it had something to do with that little argument I had with the assistant coach. 👀

Anyway, I played second base in the second game and finished the season hitting .353, then went off in the conference tournament, hitting .673. Made All-Conference, second to Deshon Brooks, at the time we were 3rd basemen and I was nominated for all conference DH. However, a chose to take the 3rd base award. I was better than him—he was just bigger. But I’m glad he got his cup of coffee with the Red Sox. ✊🏾

I learned perseverance, overall hard work dedication and expectation.

Also, I own Florida Gulf Coast with a record of 2-1 when starting .500 5-10 …. Out of 12 possibly game 😂 9 possibly dubs, we will never know 🤷🏾‍♂️ 😂

Also Florida Gulf Coast could not hit Lefties! Especially one with a good slider and curve.

OK, still in 2006. We played a two-game series against Florida Gulf Coast during spring break. I didn’t play the first game, but I got in for the second one. I would also like to highlight, we pitched a lefty that maybe had to start that year. Shout out to Andre Benjamin , who went on to have a professional career in football and baseball in Australia!!!

Did not play in this series we had a bunch of grown men on the team, however, I became the starting third baseman before the break. Finished the season batting 335. I will also highlight. I was maybe the fifth or sixth fastest player on the team with a 6.5 60yard dash. Everyone that was faster than me was sub 6.5 to 6.3, including both my roommates. So I was the slowest in the house, which is wild.👀

Did not play, this series… sucked that year batted a “Rick Ross” .222 for the year… 🤟🏾Spring “05” 💙👀😂 I will highlight Brandon Griffin, freshman, b-4 Blu Phi💙, hurled a NO HITTER and we lost 2 to 0👀 the coach didn’t even talk to his team at the end of the game. He walked across the field and tried to recruit Branden to Florida Gulf Coast. True story! Mind you this team was filled with draft picks, and all Americans.
