A while back I mentioned sending my Swarovski binos in for repair.
Took about 9 weeks to get them back, which wasn’t ideal, but they came back looking almost brand new and everything was covered under warranty.
Good glass costs more up front.
Still worth it.

Today isn’t about long weekends or sales.
It’s about the men and women who never made it home.
Freedom isn’t free, and neither is the ability to live this life we love.
Remember the fallen. Honor the sacrifice. 🇺🇸

With two axis already in the cooler, Shane decided to try for a blackbuck before heading home, so we went looking for a big one I’d seen weeks earlier on a new ranch.
At daylight we found him fighting another buck on a food plot, made a quick move to 200 yards, and when he started walking off Shane dropped him mid-step with one shot.
Heck of a way to end the trip.

With Shane’s buck hanging in camp, we headed out the next morning looking for one for Dallon and jumped a really wide axis late in the morning, but the wind beat us so we backed out.
That afternoon the cool cloud cover had deer moving early, and it didn’t take long to find him again. He eased through the brush, Dallon got set on the sticks, and when the buck crossed an opening without stopping he made a heck of a moving shot.
The buck only made it about 50 yards

First afternoon of Shane and Dallon’s axis hunt we went looking for a buck we’d spotted weeks earlier in velvet with heavy eye guards and good caudals.
We finally found him way off from a hilltop glassing point and made a quick move with just enough crosswind to get close.
At 90 yards Shane settled on the sticks, the buck turned broadside, and one shot dropped him in his tracks.
Heck of a way to start a hunt.

Bill hunted aoudad with me in spring of ‘25 and came back this summer for an axis buck.
A ranch manager tipped us off on a big management buck running does, and after getting in close and doing a little calling, the whole group came right to us.
At 80 yards Bill dropped him in his tracks.

With Abby’s blackbuck in the truck we headed back for pictures and cooler space when we drove right up on the wide buck Brian wanted.
Things got hectic quick, but Brian got set up fast, eased into position, and made it count.
Less than 15 minutes after Abby’s shot, we had two solid blackbuck on the ground.

Tip Tuesday - Call Smarter. Hunt Better.
Axis season started yesterday afternoon, and this morning I called in the first one of the year with an Ezy Axis call.
I’ve used Eric Harrison’s calls for years and they flat work.
If you’re serious about hunting axis, get one and learn how to use it — it’ll improve your odds in a hurry.

After getting the gemsbok handled, we headed out for a blackbuck for Abby.
We finally found the buck she wanted bedded nearly 1,000 yards out. First stalk didn’t come together, but the second one did.
At 200 yards Abby made a perfect shot and the blackbuck piled up at the edge of the field.
