If your hunt depends on batteries, bring spares.

I learned that one the hard way in Russia when my rangefinder battery drained in my luggage on the flight over.

Batteries are cheap. International hunts aren’t.

The first afternoon, Tom got pinned down in the middle of a big herd and just couldn’t get comfortable with the shot. The next morning we spent some time at the range, made a few adjustments, and headed back out feeling better.

That afternoon, two big rams stepped out before I’d even changed out of my running shoes.

We scrambled after them, got Tom set up, and at 125 yards the bigger ram stopped to look back.

One shot. Done.

Funny how quickly a hunt can turn around.

Sometimes you have to change the plan.

Will got really sick just a few weeks before his hunt, so we knew the West Texas heat and terrain were going to be tough.

After our first stalk proved to be too much, we changed gears—and not long after, three big rams crossed our path.

At 400 yards, this one turned broadside and looked back.

That was his mistake.

Will made it count, and I couldn’t have been happier to see him head home with a great ram.

A year waiting. Two hours hunting.

Bill’s first trip to West Texas didn’t take long. We found a few ewes, and with the rut in full swing, this big ram wasn’t far behind.

425 yards. One shot.
13” bases. 32” horns.

Hard to be too upset about an early checkout. 😂

This one was worth answering the text for.

This bull showed up about two weeks ago and I guessed him around 375”. Ed got the call, made a plan, and after a little patience in the West Texas heat, put him on the ground at 100 yards.
He stretched the tape to 383-7/8”.

If you got the text and passed… you missed out.

Taking a suppressor on an international hunt? Don’t assume the rules are the same everywhere.

Make sure it’s legal in the country you’re hunting and every country you’ll travel through. Then make sure your paperwork is squared away before you leave.

Greg and his wife Dawn came down for a fallow hunt, and we looked over plenty of really good bucks. We came close a few times, but just couldn’t quite make it happen.

Early the next morning, we spotted this big guy hanging around a feeder. This time Greg got settled and made it count.�

He’d never shot suppressed before either. After shooting my suppressed 7 PRC, I’m pretty sure there’s a suppressor in his future.
