Letting go is not the same as giving in.

Letting go is to find peace.

Giving in is to make peace.

This is what I mean when I say, “find some things in class to take off of the mat out into your daily life”.

I’m going to get a little deep, so stay with me.

I have posted this Mandala from my dear friend Alison Orchard before and I’ve sat with it for over 15 years to try to understand the depth of its meaning for me.

I have the original, hand drawn piece and I just wonder what gift(s) this possesses. The colors, the detail, the design, the intersection of patterns and flow. The informality, the off centeredness, the depth of some lines compared to others.

The time, passion, freedom, dedication and heart with which this was drawn. Not to mention, what I imagine, is the joy, thought, intention and love that Alison put into this for me. She gave it without celebration, without making it a thing, she simply said, if I remember correctly, “I drew this for you”.

Now as I look at it, I am so grateful that someone thought so much of me to invest their time, talent and love in a gift that I hold so dearly, in all my wonder.

In a few weeks, I am going to the Telluride Yoga Festival where I get to be a student. To learn, absorb and practice in a space that allows me to explore my practice, my being, my intentions and what I bring to every class I am trusted to lead.

And this Mandala will be in my heart because I may finally feel the love that is given to me, is the love I get to share.

Having the chance for a “last practice” with Heather Harrison & Wendell Smith before their Texas Water Safari race is awesome.

Restorative at Laurel Grace Yoga seemed like the perfect nervous system reset.

Sometimes the Universe leads you to a Dove Chocolate and the message is just too good not to share.

So tonight as we settled into the restorative class at Laurel Grace Yoga. I shared what was brought to me.

Root while you Rise.

This guy has decided that he needs a mission.

He’s going to be a presenter at Telluride Yoga Festival at 65.

The theme will be to share, where are you from and where are you going? Lose the "goals" and follow your calling.

When we speak it, the Universe gets to work.

Nothing like setting up for a small restorative class and using all of the props to support students ability to settle in.

Remember, there’s a difference between “letting go” and “giving in”. Letting go is to find peace, giving in is to make peace.
