National Gold Star Mother’s Day is observed annually on the last Sunday in September. It was created to recognize and honor those who have lost their son or daughter while serving our country in the United States Armed Forces. May your loved ones never be forgotten.

This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting and donating a Flag of Our Fallen-Colorado to Carla Sizer in honor of her son, SPC Dane Balcon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; assigned to the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; who died Sept. 5, 2007 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. He was 19 years old.

Always remember our fallen heroes and the sacrifices they made fighting to preserve our freedom.

Presenting a Texas Flag of Our Fallen to Maria Salgado Rosales in honor of her son Cpl Benjamin S. Rosales who was killed on 4 Oct 2006 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Also Joe Canning who lost his son LCPL Wesley J. Canning on 10 Nov 2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

On 10 June I had the honor of meeting and donating a flag to Joe and Amanda Canning, the father and sister of fallen hero LCPL Wesley J. Canning.

Marine Lance Cpl. Wesley J. Canning | Military Times WEBSTER, Texas — A message left on a cell phone by a Marine while he was serving in Iraq was played at his funeral service.

On 9 June we were able to donate a flag to the family of TSgt Michael P. Flores during a building dedication Ceremony. The 342d Training Squadron, dedicated Building 242, Medina Training Annex, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, in Honor and Memory of the sacrifice the Pararescueman made for his country.
