Update on today's "effort." The plan was to get four miles in - only made it 3.75, and that was with some "stoppage time" on some of the hills. I have to remind myself they didn't name it Cross Hill. They named it Cross Mountain. A big thank you to my dear friend Michele Elmore who reminded me it is okay to stop and walk every now and then. I am NOT training for the Olympics. I also needed to be better hydrated - you would think I would know better. Also, I will skip the resistance band training with a medicine ball workout on Fridays ... perhaps move that to Thursday, so I have time to recover. I know I have invited some of you to join me at the "Hillotes" run on 12 October. There is a 5K/10K and 1/2 Marathon. I promise you this ... If you spend a few Saturday mornings at Cross Mountain before then, you will slice through those hills on race day like a hot knife through butter ... So, next week - I will again attempt 4 miles. Breaking from my "add one mile to my long run" mantra. Kind of like, if I can't lift 100 pounds 8 times, why would I try and lift 120 the next day? Have a blessed week!

As part of our Small Group growth plan ... I plan on using Francis Chan's "Forgotten God," John Piper's "Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die," and Donald Whitney's "Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Mind." All great works and available on Amazon and elsewhere. However, they are NOT required.

We were somewhat OBE (Overcome by Events) this morning ... But we will do it again NEXT Saturday shortly after Prayer! Though the small group is called "I AM Running ... do not let that scare you away. We can just as easily call it "I AM Walking/Jogging/Skipping" More importantly: We ARE having fellowship with each other. I invite all my Cross Mountain people to come on out!

As I was researching headphones (my pup ate my others), I saw a comment from someone complaining about how "I hear more of the outside noise than I do my music". Well, that is kind of the point. For outdoor/road use, get a set which allows for the ambient noise to be heard. All fun and games until you get hit by a car or bit by a dog you did not hear...

Dear Terry Elizondo Celestino ... thoughts and comments please!

Four miles in the books today! Observations: Drivers do not pay attention - so we must. Even thinking about running on the sidewalk vice asphalt. Remember - if possible, run on these in this order:
1) Grass
2) Gravel
3) Asphalt (Road)
4) Concrete (Sidewalk)

Bikers (the pedal kind) are still rude. :)
