Race recap 08/08/26:
So we took “The Spade” out to I-37 Speedway last night. It wasn’t the best night but by far wasn’t the worst. I’m very proud of myself and I’m so so grateful for my family and my racing family for all their help and support; I definitely wouldn’t have made it through last night without them. We went and took a chance by taking the car out knowing we were having a bit of motor issues, with the possibility of blowing it but didn’t let that stop us. We started the heat race 3rd and finished there, I’m so freaking happy about that. I felt a bit iffy with how the car was running, she was popping a lot and I could just tell she wasn’t ok. Kinda threw me off so I didn’t give it my all, we checked it over made some changes and fixed her up to prepare for the feature. We went out there starting 7th,hung with the front a bit and dropped back to 8th after another car had pulled off, finished 7th. I was gunnin for the car in front of me in 6th and thought I could make a good pass at checkered but ended up behind lapped traffic and last minute couldn’t make it so finished 7th, which I’m not mad about. Overall a really fun night last night and a good one, I can’t wait to be back out there again!!!

I wanna say thank you to my Mom and Dad Nathan Ashelin for allowing me and supporting me still doing this, my boyfriend (Freddy Vannoy) for doing everything he can to help with anything we need and supporting me, my grandma (Brenda Christian), Daniel Kidd and Martha Kidd, Aunt Terri and Uncle Bubba all for coming out to support me it means the world!!

I also want to give a huge thank you to all my sponsors because I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this without their support:

🏁 IT’S RACE DAY! 🏁

Putting dirt under the wheels this weekend! 🤎🏁

Tonight, we’ll be at I-37 Speedway with the Fast Lane Cupcakes #43 Tuner, and I’m looking forward to getting back out there with some of my favorite people and doing what I love.

Race days don’t happen because of just one person. There are so many people behind the scenes who help, support, encourage, turn wrenches, cheer me on, and make it possible for me to keep doing this hobby I love so much.

First, thank you to the people who mean the most and are always by my side on race day — my family: Mom, Dad, Grandma and Freddy; and all of my friends and fans. ❤️

A special thank you to Daniel Kidd and Martha for always cheering me on.

And a HUGE thank you to every person and business that has helped and supported me along the way:

A little late on race recap, sorry about that.

I-37 Speedway Saturday night for my second night on the dirt this season and I had a goal on my mind, finish and do better. I do believe that’s what I did.
Heat race I just wanted to take it easy and the track wasn’t particularly what I was expecting so we finished 7th in our heat. For the feature I started 14th and after a spin costing one of my good friends (Josh Jones) his night. I was able to talk to Josh on the track and I felt horrible but he reassured as he always does it will be ok. I went on to pass a few and finish 7th.
I passed a few cars and built confidence in this race, making it progress and success.
Ready for the next but not without first saying thank you to the people that mean the most on my side on race day, my family(Mom, Dad, Shelby, Grandma), Freddy, my friends and fans. Thank you Daniel Kidd and Martha cheering me on though not able to attend this race.

Thank you to those that have helped me and supported me in this hobby of mine.

I-37 Speedway Autism Awareness Night Recap for the Fast Lane Cupcakes 43 Tuner driven by me, Shaylee Edwards.
First getting back to the dirt had me really excited and pumped up. Started heat 2 outside pole and been fell back quickly off the start and then guess I was in someone’s way and got turned around, recovered but then lost the pack to catch. Finished fourth put me starting 8th in the main. Felt good about the car and then lost it between 3 and 4. After regaining again lost the pack but started making progress. Once I picked off a couple cars was trying hard to make contact with a fellow racer however out of turn 4 he hit a rut losing control into the line I committed and boom, took out my steering knuckle. Took it to the infield and we are already ready for the next event thank to my amazing crew of Dad and Freddy getting her back together. Thank You Freddy for all your help this weekend before and after the races. It truly meant the world.
Though my momma had a worse night than I breaking her ankle, we are ready to be back May 30th.
Thank you to those that have helped me and supported me in this hobby of mine.

The Palace of Power was an experience, one I will do again.
My first time on the asphalt track, the only one left in Texas, HMP Oval Track, left me wanting to do it again of course. Started out full of nerves but after a few practice laps settled down to accepting I can do this.
An important change missed from the dirt to asphalt…power steering, ended my night mid race, but I didn’t just give in. I tried to complete the whole race but just couldn’t take the hurt it was putting on me. I met some many new drivers and they told me I did good for my first time out.
Crew has already started on a few changes we should’ve done before but I can’t say thank you enough to my crew, my sponsors, my family and my friends. I wouldn’t be here without them.
Thank you.
