Eric Castillo a former 30yr old Senior Division 1 college athlete that lived a dream through a power
Taylor Trash Productions presents “The Power of a Dream” The story of #38, Eric Castillo, a former 30 year old senior defensive back at Incarnate Word University lives his dream as a part of the Cardinals squad. At the age of 28 after being knocked down by life and with no prior football experience, Castillo had a dream to get back up and play collegiate football at the University of the Incarnate
Word and decided to make it his reality. Castillo will share his experience and journey but it’s what he has done off the field that has already begun to change lives forever. Castillo needed to train hard and learn fast in his pursuit to play college football, but it was his ability to work with a team coherently and efficiently that has paid dividends for him both in football and the surrounding San Antonio community. Castillo was invited to UIW's 2013 first Division 1 football camp where only 95 guys were selected. The oldest and least experienced but his hard work and dedication is what got him to his dream. Castillo has giving back to the community through his nonprofit in July 2012, has already donated over 15,000 pairs of shoes to organizations like The Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio, Haven For Hope, Dress for Success and Red Cross. “A Walk in My Shoes” is a charity, whose sole purpose is to distribute donated shoes to those less fortunate so that they may get back on their feet, literally. Upon seeing homeless without shoes, the discussion began to flow on the unmistakable need of some people in the community. With the realization that he had more shoes than he needed, it was evident that most people had the same reality and something needed to be done for those that didn’t. NEVER GIVE UP
We distribute donated shoes to organizations such as Haven for Hope, Boys and Girls Club, Red Cross, Dress for Success, and SAMMinistries. We strive to make a difference and realize that every pair of shoes can impact a life. We encourage you to help spread the word for this worthwhile cause. Monthly Shoe Drives are held to gather donations and pick-ups are also arranged to get them. Your support is greatly appreciated and volunteers are welcome.
