Waves 16U player Sage participated for the East Coast Yankees in the Roy Hobbs World Series Women's Division. This event was open to ages 14 to 40+. Some of the 8 participating teams were made up of women from the USA National Team as well as a dozen that were drafted in the WPBL. Sage was able to hold her own on the field with these super talented women. Most importantly she was able to play with and against her friends that she has met through the girls baseball community.

Torrey Pines wins flag football championship with frosh QB 11/18/2025

Congrats to Izzie D and her teammates on a CIF championship flag football season for Torrey Pines HS! A bunch of the 14U & 16U Waves baseball players have started playing High School Flag Football with a lots of success. The skills these girls learn playing baseball with and against boys, transfer to Flag Football....throwing, catching, toughness, teamwork, etc. Flag Football is a fall sport so it doesn't conflict with Baseball or Softball seasons. Izzie missed out on the MLB Develops Breakthrough Series so she could participate in the CIF Championships.

Torrey Pines wins flag football championship with frosh QB Torrey Pines claimed the Falcons’ first crown, after three straight title game appearances, with a win over Westview in Escondido.

Next up, we want to give a big shoutout to Youki from our 16u team for her incredible sportsmanship and leadership.

Every team has that one player who brings the energy—the one who lights up the dugout, keeps everyone focused, and gets the vibes just right. For the CA Waves 16u Girls Baseball team, that’s Youki.

She’s not just a great ballplayer—she’s a natural leader. Her voice brings confidence and positivity, whether it’s before a game, during a tough inning, or when it’s time to hype everyone up.

And here’s the cool part: Youki doesn’t wait around for someone to tell her what to do. She’s already getting warm-ups going, keeping the team dialed in, and making sure everyone’s ready—mind and body.

But what sets her apart? She lifts others up. She makes sure every player feels like they matter, that they belong, and that they’ve got something to bring to the team. She’s not just helping them play better—she’s helping them believe in themselves.

Youki is the kind of leader teams are built around. She’s already making waves (pun intended), and we can’t wait to see how she continues to shape the future of girls' baseball.

And last, but not least, recognition for two of our CA Waves 16u players.

First up for a shoutout in Leadership is our very own 16u Waves player, Kallan.

Leadership doesn’t always mean being the loudest on the field—it’s about stepping up when it counts. For the California Waves 16u Girls Baseball team, Kallan is that steady presence everyone looks to.

She’s not just a great player—she’s the one cheering others on, picking them up after a tough play, and celebrating the little wins that only teammates notice. Kallan’s the kind of leader who makes you feel seen and valued, no matter what the scoreboard says.

What makes her stand out is how she leads with both strength and kindness. She helps new players feel welcome, brings the team together, and creates a space where everyone feels like they belong. It’s not just about playing hard—it’s about building each other up.

As girls’ baseball keeps growing, it’s players like Kallan who are paving the way—not just with talent, but with heart. Whether it’s a quiet word in the dugout, a small private discussion, a quick high-five, or just being the one who says, “You’ve got this,” Kallan shows what real leadership looks like.

She’s got it—and she makes sure her teammates know they’ve got it too.

The next player to be recognized for outstanding Sportsmanship during BFA Nationals is Waves 14u player Leily!

Leily is a talented athlete who came to BFA Nationals for her 1st time and played her heart out. Her positive attitude and enthusiasm are what made her exceptional. Leily picked up her teammates when they needed it and kept the positive momentum going on the field and in the dugout. She never let her head hang low and was a constant support to her teammates. Leily’s display of sportsmanship is an example of a well-rounded athlete.

Every year, at the end of BFA Nationals, BFA selects a player from each division for a Sportsmanship Award. We know it is impossible to select every player nominated. That being said, the California Waves would like to recognize young ladies from our teams who displayed great Sportsmanship and Leadership during the tournament.

The first player to be recognized is Waves 12u player Marissa!

Marissa, who hails from Canada, is the first one to stand up and cheer when her teammate gets a hit. She is also there to pick them up when they strike out. Her teammates call her Mighty Mouse, despite her size, you can hear her from anywhere in the field.

In Marissa's own words, "No one who sees me at first expects me to be so loud! But they learn fast!"

Whether it's leading her teammates in loud cheers or patrolling second base, she is a true force of nature.

It is for these reasons that she has earned the 2025 Waves 12U Majors Nationals Sportsmanship Award!
