May is drowning prevention month! As we all gear up for summer it’s important to keep water safety top of mind. Drowning is THE leading cause of death for children under the age of 4 and is a the 2nd leading cause of death for children under the age of 14. What can you do to protect the children in your life? Invest in swim lessons, actively watch children in and around water, and never swim alone.

More information to come on water safety as we splash into summer so stay tuned! In the meantime checkout @joshtheotter for safety tips and a story to share with kids about being safe around water.

The Ryan Y Leadership team recognizes Sierra, our amazing Assistant Site Supervisor at Silver Gate Elementary, for her hard work and dedication to our Youth Development Programs. Sierra leads with grace and confidence and brings joy and creativity to our programs. She is a great example of spirit and continuously engages youth in games, songs, dances, and skits. She leads by example and regularly demonstrates our four Core Values- Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. Sierra is also a Y kid herself- she was a Character Builders student, a Y camper, an LIT, and eventually became a staff member! We are so grateful to have Sierra on the Ryan CYD team!
