Last year we set the intention to bring running back from cancellations. While Covid cases are back on the rise, we are still faced with mask restrictions again. We remain resilient. Running and community are still not canceled. Together, we ride the wave of uncertainty with empathy and compassion so that we may continue to come back stronger.

Community has kept many of us grounded during this pandemic, so let’s make 2022 bigger than run. This year, make a stronger effort to support, cheer, pace, run alongside, give high fives, and just show up for others to be better together.

Happy New Year✌🏾✨

If you regularly run the Waterfront during the evening hours, then 'tis the season to spice up your route by taking a detour into Little Italy for some festive holiday lights!

Beginning on Dec 4, the neighborhood will be transformed into a sparkly Christmas wonderland, featuring not only kinetic tree holiday displays on the street corners but also 10-foot tall nutcrackers. There'll be two large trees that are perfect for photos - one at Piazza Basilone and the other at Piazza della Famiglia.

Your best bet to enjoy this area is to try and schedule your run earlier in the week, since the streets are most likely to be packed on weekends. Parking is available near the San Diego Administration Building, in front of Waterfront Park on Harbor Drive.

And, since you'll be running at night in the city, don't forget to don some visibility gear!

If you're unfamiliar with the area looking for a good route, load up The Run Down and cruise the one we mapped out for you.

Have fun, and don't forget to tag .run in your photos!

If you're looking to run an LA neighborhood fully immersed in the Christmas spirit, check out the Eagle Hill Christmas Lights in Brea! Every night until Christmas the lights are on from 6p-10p.

There's easy parking at the Brea Sports Park (located just east of the lights on Birch St), or if you want to avoid the congestion of the neighborhood altogether, you can park on N. Thistle Rd. near E. Edgemont Ln. From there, you can pick up a walking trail that will take you straight to S. Starflower St., which is the western border street of the neighborhood.

This place can get crazy, especially on weekends, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. (Thankfully, all the cars will likely be going much slower than you.)

Check out The Run Down app if you're looking for a looped route, and don't forget to tag us in your festive photos!
