Having a support system is a crucial part of the healing journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some ways to identify who is good to have in your support system is how they respond when you express yourself. Are they able to hold safe space & compassion with no judgments, or do they get defensive or dismissive?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being seen, heard, acknowledged, and feeling safe by others who support you is part of getting through life. Allowing yourself to be seen and supported helps to heal trauma. It’s a chance to rewrite those trauma experiences & our self-doubting narratives.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Researchers have also said that having a strong support system has many positive benefits. Some of the best benefits include higher levels of well-being, better coping skills, and longer healthier life. Having a support system has also been proven to reduce depression, anxiety, and stress.

For us to Thrive, we need a support system to be there for us.

The definition of a support system is that you have a network of people that can provide emotional support.

Having a support system means that you have people to rely on, support you, and root for you. They are people who make you feel seen, heard, and loved in a safe space. Remember, you can create multiple support systems in various areas of life.

The first step is 𝐀𝗪𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒⁣⁣

Then 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐄 to take action to do the inner healing work.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But ultimately, you have to 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐒𝐄 how you will let intergenerational trauma impact your life path. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Many of us are repeating the cycle because it's tough getting out of the circumstance. For many reasons such as Shame, abuse, cultural & community stress, low self-worth, hopelessness, it's comfortable to be in the toxic cycle even though it is harmful to us, and so on. ⁣⁣
VS⁣⁣
Many of us can bring awareness and courage to break the cycles in the family. Do the inner healing work to break free. It won't be an easy pathway. However, you will lead the way to gain freedom for yourself, inspire others, break toxic patterns, set boundaries, healthy ways to regulate, build a healthy lifestyle for yourself and future generations, etc.⁣⁣

Which one will you choose to be? ⁣⁣

𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐍𝐨" 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 "𝐘𝐞𝐬" 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. So if you say "Yes" to them, then you are saying "NO" to your wellness." ⁣

People from enmeshed cultures and/or traditional families often find it difficult to say NO, which causes codependency, internalized emotions, anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-worth, etc.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In many cultures, such as South Asian or Desi, the collective unit is praised while individuality is more consequential rather than intentional.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With the current mixture of cultures and generational differences, we need to find a balance in our modern lives to help ourselves first so we can then help others.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Remember that you are not responsible for others' happiness, and give yourself permission and time to let the guilt dissolve and transform into confidence.
