Hi Everyone,
As many of you know, the memorial service for Anthony’s son Dominic is tomorrow, Sunday, August 14, at 2 p.m. in Irvine. It will be streamed for those who are unable to attend. That link is https://admin.oneroomstreaming.com/email/view/908fc80c04
Additionally, 30% of the prize pool for the Tiki will be donated to help defray the costs of the service, and we’ll probably provide some other ways to help out that day. If you can’t attend the Tiki and want to help out–or just want to chip in some more– you can send donations to Anders, who has offered to collect them. His Venmo is -wright, or you can reach out to him directly.
Thanks everyone, and thanks for being a part of this community. It’s great that we’re able to come together to help out one of our own. Let me or Anders know if you have any questions.
Invitation for the service of Dominic Ruggieri at O'Connor Mortuary
Speaking of the Tiki Tourney - Anthony's son passed away last month and he could use some help with the memorial expenses. We are going to have the Tiki be fundraiser with 30% of the buy-in going to help him out. But anyone - whether they're playing the Tiki or not - can help Anthony out by sending a Venmo to -Wright . Anders will then make sure all contributions get to Anthony. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out!!
Syndicators - during Covid we ended up using the GroupMe app so much that we let this page go. But we're now back and I'll get us caught up over the next couple of weeks.
First up is the Tiki Tourney on August 20th. We are currently sold out with 60 players - but please let me know if you want to play as we always get cancelations.
It's time to catch up the Syndy Meta page! Let's start with current events:
On Saturday night we had our ninth event of season 16 and it will surprise no one (unless you've seen him play before) that Mark Ross took it down. Mark has many passions in his life but two of the main ones are Porsche Boxsters and telling everyone how smart he is. So, after a little research into his life, we worked up two different winner's photos - because we like Mark just that much!
Syndicators - as I reported recently, one of the Syndicate’s founders and its first commissioner, Mark Antis, passed away last week. Mark had just played with us at the Tiki and our first event of the new season after a long absence so we know how unexpected this was. Mark was having a tough time financially during covid and didn’t leave any resources for a proper memorial and other expenses. His brother and a friend have set up a GoFundMe to help handle this and I’d like to encourage our members to help out if they can. As I mentioned last week - even if you didn’t know Mark, or know him well - our club and all the relationships it has created are only possible because of his efforts in forming it and guiding us at the beginning. Please help if you can and mention this is for The Syndicate in your comment if you leave one.
Thanks, Jonkey
