A lot of times we make a mistake of assuming things for our children and don't take the time to connect, become aware of their mental/psychological needs.

A persons intelligence is not merely measured by their ability to get Aโ€™s in school, sure that leads to a head start in oneโ€™s career. But to truly succeed at life it has to be coupled with Emotional Intelligence to ensure work life balance.

High EQ leads to recognition of oneโ€™s emotions and being able to regulate them, empathy for self and others, being able to acknowledge other peoples feelings. This leads to being able to problem solve and influence others. What if we lived in a world like that?

This has been a passion project I have been working on. One of the big Themes of 2021 was raising my EQ - thanks to Aavik being my greatest teacher who mirrored parts of me that needed deep healing and integration. Upon getting my Breathwork Certification it became more prevalent to me to make this my mission.

All my clients I served we noticed this basic underlying theme - what if we were taught emotional regulation growing up. So this has been a passion project I have been working on for the last quarter and am finally happy to see it birthing.

Thank you for giving my vision a visual life (slide 2) an entire program coming up (parents interested in teaching their children DM me for more info) designed to replace Time Outs with Time Ins designing an area in your household for kids 2.5yrs to 5yrs dedicated to helping your toddlers master emotional intelligence.

Thank you for launching me in the school system so we can make this a 360 influence in a childโ€™s life. To many more of these and to leaving a legacy for our next generation.

Calm is not something that comes naturally to most parents. Especially if you have been genetically passed down anxiety/stress and not enough healthy coping skills to get through it.

Believe me itโ€™s something that I had to work towards in the face of being triggered left and right during power struggles/melt downs and tantrums.

When they experience big emotions if we havenโ€™t worked through our triggers itโ€™s very easy to REACT instead of RESPOND. When we feel anxious/stressed it can look like -

No one comes to therapy asking to learn โ€œboundariesโ€. Having been a trauma therapist for over 15 years that is one thing I have found myself teaching people once we process through the shame, hurt, emotional pain, in the formative and adolescent years.

So examples of boundary setting can look like - (CONNECT & GIVE CHOICES)
People have control issues/are traumatized in life because they didnโ€™t get to have control over their lives.
- You can have your iPad tomorrow when you wake up in the morning, you would like to give it to me now or in 5mins? Plan ahead to avoid a tantrum. (Set a 5 min timer and let them know when the timer rings, they get to give back the gadget.
- Letโ€™s go change you in 2 mins (set a timer or when taking them be playful and ticklish and make it a lighter moment instead of โ€œwho gets to be right matchโ€

(To that they respond by having a melt down, or yelling/screaming/crying or saying no). FOCUS on the feeling - respond by saying - โ€œYou are feeling sad/hurt/disappointedโ€ I know I am right here with you. Let it all out. It sucks, I can only imagine (to that they scream louder) get on their eye level, be on the floor with them to help them
COREGULATE. I know let it all out, all emotions are welcome, can I give you a hug? Or take them to a time-in peaceful place (a corner in your house that you design and assign and sit with them to help them through their big feelings).

Toddlers need our help to help them through THEIR BIG FEELINGS. Itโ€™s a skill you get to teach them that you didnโ€™t get modeled growing up. If itโ€™s hard for you to see them crying give them a CHOICE. How an

Asking questions and giving yourself the permission to learn from it builds new neural connections in your brain and allows you to be open to new awareness, guidance to seep in, and heal through your unhealthy patterns so you eventually learn to respond and not react.
