The Ivy League, Mental Illness, and the Meaning of Life
This article reminds me of a student I met at Harvard while I was a teaching fellow. She was tremendously driven and asked me whether I thought she should apply directly to Harvard Business School, where I had just graduated. Her plan was to go from there into private equity. I told her to take some time off, see the world and do something interesting to gain some perspective on the world... She didn't take my advice, but she did get into HBS as a 23 year old (quite a feat!) and I'm guessing went on into the PE world afterwards. -I wonder if she was ever able to gain some perspective on life beyond the Ivy League definition of success...

Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Oprah Winfrey All Use the 5-Hour Rule
I really like this article. It also makes me think of a recent conversation with a fellow Harvard Business School alum about books. He tends to read certain books repeatedly to really drive the message home. Personally, I tend to read more variety, which makes me sometimes think that if I just sat down and focused on implementing one of those books I would get better results. In any event, knowledge is power!
