Hi, I'm your race director, Natasha Preece. I'm now 14 years old and I just want to make a difference. Children for children 5k is a project that I started when I was 11 years old, when I realized that not all kids are as privileged and they don't have as many opportunities as many of us do to practice sports. So, the idea came to do a fun 5k, where children could help other children. All the proc

The 5 Options for Motivating Your Participation:

1. Intrinsic Motivation: You love to run. Period. You love to give back. Period. You love nature, you love people, you love being outside, exercising, and supporting humanity. You LOVE running around the flamingo.

2. Extrinsic Integrated Motivation: Doing so is congruent with your beliefs, your intentions. You're aware of the good this brings to you and others. You know you'll feel great running around the flamingo.

3. Extrinsic Identified Motivation: You've identified that running is good for you, that giving back to others is an important thing for you to do. You know that running around the flamingo is good for you.

4. Extrinsic Introjected Motivation: Yuck. If this is your motivation, sit this one out. This is motivation by shame, internal "punishments." This is "shoulding on yourself." "I should run around the flamingo because if I don't, I'm a terrible friend." YUCK!!

5. External Regulation Motivation: You're motivated by some external reward. Run this, get that. OR, run this, or else... "I'm going to run around the flamingo because if I don't, I'll be DQ'd."

We hope to see a bunch of 1's, 2's, and 3's tomorrow morning!!
