Although most know that this group has turned into a Muay Thai striking class, I still teach FMA (privates) and promote the art as much and as often as I can. With that being said, Sept 14 marks another year of the SD FMA Open hosted by my friend and amazing martial artist Phillip Palmejar (P5 Academy). Please attend and support a great event.

Working on some basic partner drills. Combatant #1 works on throwing a combination (can also be referred to as an offensive cycle or ABC) that focusses on using your body's natural counter balance of movement to provide economy of motion and power. Combatant #2 works on blocking the offensive cycle, which requires a lot of understanding of timing, distance, proper structure, and stress inoculation to hang in the pocket to seize an opening to either break or endure the combination to set up your own offensive cycle. In that moment, the roles are reversed. Lather, rinse, repeat to progressively prepare a person for sparring. A lot more detail and drilling can be added of course, but you get the point. ππΌπ
