In 2021 every time Jon Macaskill, Dr. Theresa Larson DPT , or @Will Schneider made a post wearing a Be Au Sm The Essential Elements to Kicking Ass shirt, within minutes, I would get an alert that someone has purchased one of our shirts. Before them, I felt like I knew every person that made a purchase. When I was filling orders last night (3 of the people I didn't know personally) and handwriting the cards, I looked at the special instructions on the order sheets. Our freedom is NOT free.

Look up and pay attention to those you love and the price of your freedom 🇺🇸, as it is not free.

This is the final day of my 10 days of travel and am so thankful for the organizations and people I got the chance to work with.

I am standing here with Jonathan, my Marine Recon brother, and the pilot Mike at the Durango airport.

There are really no more words to describe the feeling of knowing that I am exactly where I am supposed to be and doing the work alongside my family AND chosen family.

I will share more in the days to come about our adventures, but first I have a book fair to attend with my 5 year old Magnus❤️🇺🇸.

This picture is of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Denver office education leadership team.

It was an honor to present at their FBI Rocky Mountain Command college yesterday next to my brother from another mother Jon Macaskill.

I could not stop smiling while listening to Jon speak, as he truly lives this work and is amazing at presenting it. He gets it.

AND I am so grateful I get to present my expertise on movement wellness, debunk the myths around pain & injury, discuss training/living with longevity in mind AND share my story of why this work has changed not only my life but also my business.

I enjoyed this group of Colorado law enforcement leaders💪🏽🧡🇺🇸.

We are changing the 🌎 world together.

Herding cattle was my latest adventure that turned out to be an awesome mindful movement experience.

I had to be present with my bodies actions, my connection with my horse, and what was going on with the cows. It was humbling to say the least.

This past weekend I was at a good friend, Amanda Cuevas wedding outside Alpine Wyoming. I adventured to this spot with my very close friend from my Long Beach days-Lindsay Sturdevant

We had no cell reception, we bathed in a very cold river, slept outside, and enjoyed campfires and yummy food.

The day after the wedding the local cowboy who happened to be a Marine Vietnam Veteran was herding some cattle so my friend and I volunteered to help.

I am not used to riding horses, yet I LOVE them. I also love nature, and adventure.

Herding cattle encompassed all of these things❤️.

As we head into the weekend of 9-11 let us not forget. This terrorist attack changed our world forever.

I remember I was in my NROTC uniform walking to class from west campus Villanova University . My friend who was one of the campus security guards ran over to me and told me what was happening.

I remember sitting in my Political Science class watching… in disbelief.

I also remember our Battalion Commander at Nova telling us that day a few parents of some of the NROTC students had been killed in the 9-11 attacks and mentioned most likely during our time in service we will go to war.

We are stoked to announce we WON the @deptvetaffairs ADAPTIVE SPORTS GRANT again. We just found out this past week and are so incredibly grateful.

A huge thanks to our Adaptive Training Team and Educators- Per Larson, @physiomeg @anniewoz11 @raygerard @1deepflyestking @dirtyshoresstudio @sarah_rudder_5toes @kiontestorey Kevin Justice, @pillowhead321 @peace6080 and many more. You all have kept our Adaptive Training alive and thriving.

This grant has helped our Adaptive Training program get off the ground and educate hundreds of physical therapists, recreational therapists, personal trainers understand the WHAT, WHY, HOW of working with those with mixed abilities, adaptive needs, or disabilities veterans or not.

This year and next, now that some fitness/wellness organizations and Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology Departments are catching on to the NEED for this education, this grant will be that much more meaningful to reach the places in the fitness and health space not yet touched by Adaptive Training education.

Finally, you may be asking what is ADAPTIVE TRAINING? Adaptive Training is the strength and conditioning, human performance approach to training an athlete with mixed abilities, adaptive needs, or disabilities for life or their sport.

How Healthy IS Your Neck?

Your NECK may hurt or feel like there are large knots growing out of it, yet do you actually know if your neck moves optimally?

The truth is, where your pain or discomfort IS (ie neck) most often does not mean that the problem is just in that location. We want to look at the bigger picture, the whole person.

Usually in musculoskeletal/orthopedic type causes is the area of your body above or below that region that is experiencing pain.

Those areas such as the shoulders and mid back (if feeling pain in the neck) may need some mobility love as well as the neck.

If you have adaptive needs, mixed abilities, disabilities, or consider yourself able bodied...you can do this test.

How do you keep someone ALIVE whom you have LOST?

You take on a trait that you admired the most about that person. You live it, you impact people with it, you talk to people around you about this person.

My Father taught me this.

He passed 7 years ago Sept 3rd on a 100 mile bide ride honoring a veteran in his parish. He was a great man who served MANY in his life as a Army veteran, business man, Father, husband- widower, coach, my biggest fan… and I his, and finally a Catholic Priest.

He made such an impact, that folks from across the country- first responders, families he counseled, friends… reach out to me consistently to this day.

My dad had a flip phone and rarely used a computer, yet STILL makes an impact to this day in peoples live, because of the way he treated people.

Because of my Dad I have taken on how relentless he was at BEing a force for good in the world, and not even considering how hard or impossible things seemed, he never quit.

Neither do I!

➡️Meeting their great Uncle Dennis and Aunt Lee!

➡️Seeing the Statue or Liberty LIVE.

➡️Hanging with Auntie Kriste Romano in Hoboken.

➡️Attending a beautiful giant New York family wedding of Jo Jo Miller & Tyler Bradford.

What she said in 5 minutes sums up what matters most when working with anyone yet especially the mixed ability or adaptive community.

➡️Lead with HOPE!
➡️Do not treat people as broken. Heck- remember you are NOT broken.
➡️Never give up on yourself or those around you.
➡️Be kind!

“The only thing HARDER than preparing for an emergency…is explaining why you didn’t.”

Preparing for WAR is much easier (in my opinion) than preparing for the unimaginable in our own districts and schools: MASS SHOOTINGS.

Why? Because it’s in our back yards, ideally a safe place.

I just came from a school safety briefing. I am glad I was there as a parent.

MYTH: "Get up, or you are going to hurt your knees!" Says the photographer (who was awesome btw) from our family photo session this weekend.

Me: "I am good, thank you!"

FACT: Having a normal knee function allows me to do things like kneel down with my kids, get full knee flexion, run, move, jump...even in a dress. Just because I am bending down like this does not mean I will hurt my knees. This is what your KNEES can and should do.

Many of you have heard MYTHs about your pain similar to this:

"It is part of getting old"

"I just have to live with my pain"

"pain is all in my head"

"no pain, no gain"

FACT: Pain is common, but not normal. Just because there is pain does not mean there is an injury or that the previous injury is still there.

The PACT Act is now law after years and years of advocating for it. It was a fight until the end.

Thank you Rosie Lopez-Torres Le Roy Torres @burnpits360_ @jonstewart_official for leading the charge with this and so so many more to include fellow Marine Corps sisters Melinda Beyer and Dr. Kate Hendricks Thomas who fought for this until the day she passed.

I realize I am not including everyone here, yet know I am grateful.
