Every year for my birthday I bring party favors to my classes to share the celebration. This year is different. I wanted to find a way to share the joy and celebration ... I sent a full restorative set up: 1 bolster, 2 blocks, 2 blanket and a strap to a member of the Come As You Are community. It was so fun getting the package ready to ship. See those shutters in the background of the first image? I love these shutters so much but they are heavy and handmade ( so not totally even) and hard to hang! The push-up challenge today was one push-up with tiny pulses in your β€œdifficult zone”. I was a little intimidated by the idea. I really done like getting stuck β€œdown there” and having to put a knee down! Ugh but it was my favorite! I love this so much I ended up doing 3 just because it was so fun haha. Push-up challenge rest and stretch day. Here’s what I did and it felt so good!

Puppy pose
Start on your hands and knees
Walk your hands out to the end of the mat (hips stay above your knees) keep pressure on your hands. Arms and hands are active.

Lower your forearms to the mat.
Press the palms of your hands together.
Reach your hips up and back.

Bring your hands back over your head.

Image 4
Lie face down, arms out at 10 and 2.
Bring your left hand under your left shoulder (press your hand into the mat)
Press your outstretched arm into the mat as well.
* repeat on the other side

Lie on your back arms in cactus. Breathe πŸ™‚

Arms out at 10 and 2.
Bring your knee into your chest and twist.
*repeat on second side.

I am so excited about this opportunity! Start Now with Day 1. No need to β€œcatch up”. πŸ™‚

The last time I was doing push-ups was during my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. I found that Star Push-Ups were way easier for me than traditional push-ups. I want to feel the thrill of feeling able to push-Up if I want to!
So here’s the plan:

As you swipe left the first and second picture are position examples. You want your arms at approximately 45 degrees. (The first picture is 90, I cut it in half and the second pic is at 45) your hands will be wider than your shoulders and no higher than your shoulders. Play with it. Everyone is a little different and the idea is to be comfortable.
1. Today pick your starting point Wall, bench, table, chair blocks or floor.
2. Make sure they are secure and won’t slide out from under you.
3. As you love through the challenge Day 5 you step up so if you picked Wall you will move to Table. If you picked Bench you will move to blocks ECT.
4. At the completion of each day post β€œDay _ Done!” So we can celebrate with you!
Day 1 Plank for 30 seconds OR 5 Inclined Push-ups

Day 2 Plank for 40 seconds OR 10 Inclined Push-ups

Day 3 Plank for 60 seconds OR 10 Inclined Push-ups

Day 4 Rest, Stretch

Day 5 5 Inclined Push-ups OR 4 Inclined (Original position) and 1 Push-up (One Step Up)

Day 6 4 Inclined Push-ups and 1 Push-up
OR 2 Inclined Push-ups and 1 Push-up

Day 7 1 Push-up OR 1 Push-up with tiny pulses in your Difficult Zone

This too shall pass.

In every situation throughout my life, even the ones that were nearly unbearable, I lived. The moment passed and the pain healed. When my daughter was born I cherished every moment of her as a baby. I knew it was fleeting and had heard people lament about how quickly babies become children. But as the pace of life picked up I had forgotten that the current moments were fleeting. When my daughter was about 4 years old I realized that her youth would pass. i put the camera down and returned to cherishing every moment.

This too shall pass means that moments/experiences, opportunity and life are fleeting. Experience fully the opportunity before you to love, listen, learn and let go.
