Lisa has only been in San Diego for a few months. She connected with Ian at SDCBC late in March with a simple message: "Iām an adult beginner who has never learned to ride a bicycle and am desperate to learn." Ian pointed Lisa to the SDCBC "City Cycling" classes to get her started and connected Lisa to ReBike. After a few emails back and forth we were able to identify a bike that would fit her needs: mainly cycling around Hillcrest for transportation as Lisa can not afford a car.
Today we delivered a bike to Lisa, a nice blue, step-thru city bike that is ride ready. Lisa's eyes literally teared up when she saw it. She wanted to pay something for the bike and offered a small wad of bills that she had saved up to pay for the bike - when she heard we did not need any payment, her smile was worth a million bucks. Another day, another bike - it doesn't get better than this. š

Another Sunday session is in the books! It was another beautiful San Diego day. We were busy helping fix flat tires, making derailleur adjustments, truing bent wheels, stripping down bikes for parts and much more. And, of course as usual, we ate some pizza and drank some sodas while helping people get their bikes in tip top shape.
THANKS TO ALL OF OUR SUPPORTERS, DONORS, VOLUNTEERS AND PARTNERS.

Deacon John at Father Joe's Village runs an "earn-a-bike" program that has been running for years. Anyone who shows up outside his office at the corner or Imperial and 16th Avenue each and every Thursday at 9am sharp can borrow a bike for a group ride which is typically 20 miles long. The ride varies each week, several favorites are Ocean Beach Pier, Mission Beach, Fiesta Island, San Diego Harbor, Pepper Park and more.
ReBikeSD loves to participate in the weekly rides, often serving as the group mechanic and sweeper to ensure no one is dropped. The program builds community, sets goals and improves health - what's not to like. ReBikeSD also donates bikes to this program and provides mechanics for the bike repair events that Deacon John organizes, open to anyone with a bike.

Deacon John at Father Joe's Village runs an "earn-a-bike" program that has been in operation for years. Recently Father Joe's was donated a fleet of new tricycles which will be used in a new program for people want to ride, but are not ready for two wheeled bikes. ReBike participated in an event to help assemble ten trikes for this new venture. It was a great morning putting them together. The first trike group rides are now in the books!

Our primary mission at ReBikeSD is to get more people on bikes. We take in donated bikes, repair them, safety check them and get them back into use for people who might otherwise not be able to afford a bike. All of our volunteers work hard to allow us to do this in our community.
Without donors, we can not do what we do. Here are just a few of our recent donors. Our sincere thanks to all off them!

Rick came to visit us at one of our Sunday sessions. Unfortunately his bike was completely worn out - basically not worth repairing. But he got to work and removed all of the salvageable parts from the bike and donated them to ReBikeSD. In exchange ReBikeSD gifted him a nice, large Fuji. Happy customer!

2025 RECAP
The ReBikeSD community is growing day by day. In 2025 ReBikeSD donated 431 bikes back into the community. To fund ReBikeSD operations in 2025 ReBikeSD sold 114 bikes to ensure everyone can get high quality bikes at a fair price.
REMEMBERING RON GUITARD
In 2025 the world lost one of our founding members and all-around nice person, LCI instructor and friend within the entire San Diego bike community. Ron Guitard left us way too early but he will live on in our memories forever. Hugs brother!
To top off 2025, ReBikeSD was honored to receive the "2025 Volunteers of the Year" award at the SDCBC Golden Gear gala for our commitment to giving back into San Diego and Tijuana's bicycle community.
RebikeSD also forged alliances with other local bicycle and community organizations in both San Diego and Tijuana including SDCBC, DoSomeThingNow.org, Bikes for Baja, Father Joe's Village, Alianza por la Movilidad Activa A.C, REI, Youth Assistance Coalion (YAC), Webster Elemenatary, ProjectMercyBaja.org, Logan Heights Library, Urban Collaborative Project, St. Lukes North Park, Tijuana Boys and Girls Club, transcendDANCE, 92130Cares, Alliance for African Assistance, SDVeloMechanix, San Diego Velodrome, Belgian Waffler Ride, ImproveDTSD, CicloSDias and many more.
Our awesome crew of volunteers put in over 2,000 hours of time fixing bikes and doing other activities on behalf of ReBikeSD.
We look forward to 2026 what the new year will bring to us with open arms. Come visit and volunteer with us any Sunday! We'll all make the world a better place.

This morning ReBike delivered two bikes to an Afghan family. We had previouly delivered a bike to the father, today we dropped off two bikes for his wife and 2 year old daughter.
The daughters bike was among a number of bikes and parts that James at REI in San Diego (Convoy store) donated to ReBikeSD. Thanks REI!
The mom's bike is a Guardian mountain bike donated by Michelle, she bought the bike for her son for the holidays but on arrival it was the wrong size. Guardian's return policy on bike is to allow the buyer to donate the bike to any 501c3 non-profit in exchange for a replacement bike. Win, win!
