n for Los Angeles City Schools. In 1972, she became director and instructor of YMCA Kindergym programs in La Jolla, California, and later began writing books for children dealing with early childhood movement. In 1980, making her first television debut on KFMB-TV Channel 8, she led a group of active seniors in demonstrating aerobics for the "Dance Your Ages Off" segment of the Emmy Award-winning "Senior Ballroom" program. As a published author, Schade has written Move With Me From A-Z and Move With Me 1,2,3, books, with accompanying audiocassettes, teaching early childhood movement, and Prime Time Aerobics, a modified aerobic dance manual with cassette, specifically designed for the older adult. A recognized expert in her field of fitness, movement and dance, Char continues to teach 10 older adult fitness classes a week and gives presentations for public and private schools. Char was a consultant to the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for four years and was a certified Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (formerly PACE) Trainer of Instructors for the Arthritis Foundation from 1995. Char who has been directing and performing with the Prime Time Steppers dance troupe since 1991 was a Showgirl in the 2013 San Diego Senior Follies. As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother she has been advocating the benefits of fitness and dance for more than 50 years to students and clients ranging in age from 3 to 93 and older. A dancer, Char Schade is a living representation of her philosophy. "Be more Alive, Dance and Exercise" demonstrates her belief that every human being - from the very young to the senior citizen - should keep moving and dancing. Carol
After I retired from my career as a high school English teacher, I went looking for a Senior performing dance company and discovered the Prime Time Steppers. I started dance classes in tap and ballet when I was in elementary school. After a break in my teens and twenties, I resumed my dance classes adding jazz and hula. For many years I took classes at Mesa College in jazz, tap and ballet as well as dancing with the Park and Recreation Dept. and the UC Community Ballet. Currently, in addition to the Prime Time Steppers, I take classes in tap and jazz with the Park and Rec and perform with Heali'i's Polynesian Revue. Since joining the Prime Time Steppers, I have added costuming and choreography to my repertoire. Dance is my therapy and my passion! Millie
Born and raised in Hawaii where I learned to dance the hula, tap and ballet because my Mom loved dancing. Moved to San Diego in time to graduate in Clairemont High School's first graduation class in 1960. Worked for Solar Turbines, Inc. and retired in 2000 after 29 years. Became a member of the Prime Time Steppers in 2011 and started taking hula classes again in October of 2013 in honor of my Mom who passed away in May of 2013. This is for you, MOM! Bonnie
I am a retired administrative officer for a non-profit research company with 20 years of service. I studied piano, singing, tap dancing; toe dancing, acrobatics, and performed for USO groups in Indiana and Illinois during the 40's.
