Sun’s out ☀️ 3rd trimester bump’s out 🤰
We still out here. 🏃♀️ Still feeling good. Still doing little uphill interval workouts (I noticed they felt best starting back in February over flat & my paces are trending closer to my old easy uphill paces but heart rate/effort says I am working 🔨 and reps are progressively shorter with extra recovery) and long runs by time (shorter distance as I continue to gradually slow more ☺️). Neither bothers me because I am just so proud of my body & I had no expectations for myself running while pregnant. Whatever this trimester ahead needs to look like, I am ready for it as I have been with the 2 before it. 💜 I’ve coached probably 20 women through pregnancy over the years so I know how variable of an experience it can be.
I actually think the shirt does a better job of showing the size of my bump 🏀 but it did feel good to get some sun 🌞 on it since it’s been 80 degrees here in Colorado already. 🤪

3/4ths Pregnant Pro Trail Runner 🌵 getaway was such a blast. *By 3/4ths I mean 3 of us pros are pregnant and 1 is not ( an incredible dog mom to Eiger 🐕).
I have always valued my female friendships and this sport has brought many of my closest friends to me. I am so grateful for the connections I have made in this lifelong sport. 🫶🏼 There was something extra special about spending the week with these 3 ladies, 2 of whom are also pregnant and on the same journey at the same time. Sharing our experiences very openly and deeply regarding pregnancy thus far: the highs, the lows, and everything in between in person was a bonding experience I will always cherish.
✨ It was the week I didn’t know I needed but absolutely did. Soul filling in so many ways I can never fully express here.
🔜 Newborn season (May, June, August) with the best Aunt Courtney to our babies 😍 Love you all! 💜

That 2nd trimester glow ☀️ 22 weeks, over half way. 💛
I came into this chapter of my life with so much love for what we created, an open mind, curiosity for what my experience would be, & a positive attitude. It is such a special time. 🫶🏼
I am growing a little life - this is a beautiful and joyful experience, something to be celebrated. What a gift to create life with and share this experience with the most wonderful partner. Every milestone feels so special, every ultrasound where we get to see her is life changing, and every little kick I feel a profound sense of awe over what’s happening inside me.
As for my running, I know when I look back on this time the miles I get to share with her will be some of my fondest running memories of my life. Slower every day in a different but beautiful in its own way body but still able to do quite a bit (🙌🏽) & grateful for every step, always. 💓

A month married. 🤍
January 4th, 2026. Surrounded by our parents and siblings, and with the most special little guest in attendance, 🤰🥹 we formalized our marriage even though from the very beginning of our relationship we felt like we already had this layer of togetherness.
Morning coffee together (our special time together daily), a short and sweet ceremony with the most beautiful mountain backdrop, and brunch after (our favorite meal together) was the perfect day we imagined and created to celebrate our love. Uniquely us. Rich in quality time to end 2025 and begin 2026 with those we cherish most, our families. Having our daughter visibly present with us was just the sweetest addition to our special day and such a wonderful early memory for us as parents. 😍

Oh the places you’ll (*edit: have gone 🏃♀️ 😉) go. 💖 Of the 4,301 miles I ran this year, the final 976 over the past ~ 4 months running for 2 have been the most special. 💓 I’ve been fortunate to feel mostly pretty good so far in pregnancy and I hope that continues. 🙏🏽I I feel such gratitude for all my body is doing all day every day growing our little human. 🥹
Onwards to 2026 🤗 the best is yet to come. ✨

This race ended up being more special than I could have ever imagined. 🤰 Did I know I was pregnant when I raced Kodiak 100k? No. It turns out I was exactly 4 weeks pregnant to the day when I raced. The few days before the race actually reminded me of the end of my luteal phase but I have raced well during every phase of my cycle and the taper can make you feel off anyway so I read nothing into it/didn’t let it write my race narrative in advance and lined up ready to give my best on the day with a tampon in my vest. Race day I felt good.
In stating this journey together, I planned to train and race normally and not stress each month if getting pregnant did/didn’t happen for us until I either had symptoms that made me take a test or a missed period that made me take a test. Until the day after the race I had not missed but upon getting home a test confirmed it.➕(it was quite a weekend for me & Matt 🥹💕🎉)
I refused to put my personal life goals behind any running goals and was ready for this journey to begin. Us women should not have to choose professional running or starting a family - delay too long and you miss your window to potentially do this naturally or at all (I am 38).
I want to thank all the women who came before me who have shown you can both run professionally and have a family, those who fought to make sure we have it better than they did and that brands incorporate maternity leave clauses in their contracts to protect us during pregnancy without being penalized and give us space to recover postpartum before lining up again.
It was so special to have my baby girl along for the ride as I qualified for CCC 🇫🇷 and I can’t wait to share CCC with her at the finish waiting for me in 2027 (thank you pregnancy race deferrals too). 🥹 💗

We have been pretty private on here about our relationship this year and it has been so nice. With that said, we are excited to share some BIG news!
We are having a baby! 🥹 💗
Early this past summer we decided to get married at the beginning of 2026 and start the new year off in the most special way together. After many discussions during our mountain runs together we decided we wanted to start trying to have a family this fall. This is something we both have wanted and it just felt more right than ever with the love that we share for each other. 😍 This process happened much quicker than we could have imagined and we are thrilled to announce that we will be bringing a baby girl into the world in June 2026! 💓

I say this every year because it’s the best time to be a runner: happy to be a participant in fall running. 🍁 🧡 🏃♀️ Never not training over here 😃 but leaning into a season of less structure, more social runs, and loving the feeling of every crisp & clear day Colorado wants to give us for outdoor activities right now. ⛰️

It’s been a year with some challenges & it feels good to put one together again. I want to express a big thank you to those who help me make days like this possible. ✨ My two sponsors & the . My managers & . My partner & coach who also crewed me. Friends and training buds. 🫶
What I know from decades in the sport is when you stay positive, have a body that’s healthy & a mind with unwavering self belief, don’t let the bad days get you down, keep putting in the work because you are doing what you love every day 💜 🏃♀️, and keep trying, you WILL have your day. 💫
Kodiak was a pivot (& thank you so much to for helping me get in 🙏🏽) & I was carrying the best high altitude mountain fitness I’ve been in to date after my biggest training volume block I’ve put together up high this summer. When RRR 100 ended early due to hypothermia at mile 44 & I recovered like I had done a typical weekend training run, the option of Kodiak 100k presented itself & I jumped on it because I was originally planning on a later fall CCC qualifier.
I loved this race. 62 miles around beautiful Big Bear, CA with a little bit of everything for terrain. 62 miles, 10.2K in vert, entirety of the race between 7,000 & 10,000 feet (higher altitude yes please 😈) & 9 hours and 28 mins of pure flow state out there. I felt awesome all day. No low points. Controlled. Smooth. Consistent. Fueled as well as I ever have. Ran my race as I always do from start to finish. ⚡️
Thank you to all the volunteers & & for putting on a great race weekend. It was also wonderful to share a race weekend with friends of mine 🤗 who also had awesome races. & - loved hanging you guys & let’s do it again sometime! 💜
I can’t wait to race CCC! 🇫🇷 🎉

This past weekend I was inducted into my college athletic hall of fame. In reflecting on my running career (which technically started as a freshman in high school with quitting the sport 2x - 1st for almost a year after high school & then after college for 6 years) I wanted to share some things I wish my younger self understood in HS/college:
1. It’s the people who matter most - the connections you make with teammates & training buddies who become lifelong friends, & coaches who help guide us. This sport has brought & continues to bring the best people into my life & that’s what matters most is who we share our running journey with. 🫶🏽
2. You will run all your PRs (5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon) in your late 30s. 🚀 College regionals/nationals can feel like the end goal, but it’s literally just the beginning. Keep the joy having fun with it & anyone who tells you that you’ve hit your ceiling doesn’t belong in your circle. Resiliency & refusing to give up on yourself are crucial. Personally at age 38 the best is STILL yet to come. 👀 🔥 I keep getting fitter each year & I give zero Fs if something doesn’t go my way I get back up & try again.
3. Take care of yourself & you can have this sport forever. My “near-historic college running career” in 2008 was cut short due to a BSI in my foot (my only one to date) because I was restricting food. I promised myself never again would I compromise myself. ❌ I talked about this on the podcast recently.
4. Balance is crucial for longevity in the sport. You can go all in on your running goals & balance career, family, friends, & a social life. In fact, my best training cycles/races have been ones where I make sure I don’t “live like a monk” - take the trip ✈️, have the drink 🍸, show up for your people & trust that what’s meant for you won’t miss you. 💫
I am so honored to have my college & post-collegiate hard work & accomplishments recognized. 🏆 Thank you SMC for being the most wonderful place to grow both as a person & runner. Your support during my years as a student-athlete & after means so much to me. 💜💛

Thank you to my coach & partner for rebuilding me after injury & illness earlier this year helping me get fit again & prepared for this. We had such a fun summer together training for this race. He’s racing too. 🏃🏻♂️🔥
