Why I Own So Many Riding Boots: A Guide to Choosing the Right Boot for Every Ride
Master the Art of Fast Braking: The Progressive Braking Technique || I discuss the essential skill of braking faster and safer on a motorcycle. I also share a tip that even experiencnced riders can use to gain more performance.
The Golden Rule of Motorcycle Riding: Don’t Surprise the Bike || Here is the fundamental principle of motorcycle riding: never surprise your bike. I explain how smooth, steady inputs—whether braking, throttling, or turning—are essential for both speed and safety. I cover how abrupt movements can cause crashes like going over the bars or high-siding, and how the world’s best riders practice being quick yet smooth with their inputs. I emphasize that whether you’re a pro or new rider, maintaining smoothness allows you to push your bike harder in demanding situations, from emergency stops to mountain riding in the rain.

On the road in Baja ,
California Stopped off for lunch in Santo Tomas. Simple food, but good.

Stopped off at the Baja Moto Garage in Tijuana. This instagram worthy cafe/restaurant/bike repair/ADV hangout is worth the stop for travelers heading down into Baja. It’s quiet now but it comes alive in the afternoon with food and drink.
3 Techniques to Lift Your Adventure Bike When Riding Solo || I demonstrate three effective methods for lifting a 500-pound adventure bike by yourself after a drop: the classic reverse squat technique, the forward push method, and the handlebar lift (our favorite for its mechanical advantage). I explain key tips like turning the handlebars so the front wheel points away from the ground and emphasize using your legs rather than your back to prevent injury.
Countersteering is Bullsh*t! || Countersteering isn’t some special technique you need to learn—it’s simply how bikes turn at speed. If you can ride a bicycle, you already know how to do it. Instead of getting caught up in the terminology, focus on the skills that will improve your riding: line selection, vision, and body position etc.
Visit https://payhip.com/motomisadventures/videos for a full length video explanation on countersteering.
The Five Fundamentals of Performance Riding || I break down the five essential fundamentals every rider needs to master for safer and faster riding on twisty roads. I discuss the importance of choosing the proper line through corners, using your vision as a guidance system, mastering motor controls with throttle and downshifting, perfecting your braking technique, and optimizing your body position on the bike. Whether you’re a track racer or weekend adventure rider, these building blocks apply to all riding styles.
