Rod Machado's instruction on landing.
AFAC was one of the 3 clubs that I flew with in the '70s and had great experiences there. My primary instructor was Wm A "Bill" Morris that had great stories of flying in Viet Nam. $15/hr wet for C-150 then. Wish I could find something close now! Here in Columbus, IN, a C-172 runs about $100/hr wet, PA-22 about $95/hr wet in the local club. Gibb's was a great FBO then, probably still is. Hope you all are having as good a time as I did!
A fun club to keep current.
New paperback or eBook on Amazon:

Here's a great adventure story about a boy growing up in Alaska who learns to fly at twelve. He later enters the Air Force Academy and becomes a fighter pilot in Vietnam. Distraught about fighter pilots being shot down out of the reach of U.S. rescue helicopters, he breaks all the rules to build a bush plane with stolen military parts that can land in muddy country and starts rescuing downed airmen. After the count grows to 21, he earns the moniker, Black Jack Warner.

After he returns to America, he assembles a rag-tag fleet of cargo planes and starts one of the largest cargo carriers in the world. This book is a collection of the adventures throughout his life.

There are three attachments with complete information. I hope you enjoy the book.

I babe several pics from Avalon today but FB is stumping me on how to post more than 1. Anyway 6AF was a champ for a lunch run to the island. And the flight following through MYF ground is epic!
This is from my friend and Brown Field tenant Reg Finch- MiG 21 owner FYI, he is seeking support for an aviation museum at SDM, help if you can.

Dear Museum friends , We have tried to get a Museum going at Brown Field over the years with-out much real success . The hangars we had were meant to be the seed for a world class facility . The City officials were not supportive and seemed more interested in their pensions than doing something for the community and the airport . We never asked for any reduced rent or special favors . This may all be changing now that Wayne Reiter is the Airports program manager . We should let our desires be known . My interest is still to get a small piece of land for a couple of medium sized hangars with room for expansion . To provide “Make a wish” and “Good student flights” . Lectures by industry experts and job placement assistance . We have done these things in the past and could greatly expand this effort in the future . It is much needed in the South Bay . Please go to the meeting tomorrow evening and let them know what you think . It is informal with tables and you can come and go as you please . Tell them any airport with a history as rich as Brown Field and with locked gates making access to airplanes by the public nigh impossible , it is absolutely essential . A Museum allows people to get up close and touch real airplanes . SDSU and UCSD engineering students need to examine real airplanes because the curiculi are very theoretical and heavily oriented around the computer . We provided that need for them in the past . Bring friends and faces . The more faces the better . They will respond if the need is there . Our kids and grandkids will thank us . Cheers . Reg .

There will be an Airport Master Plan Public Meeting for Brown Field Municipal Airport (SDM) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at the Montgomery-Waller Recreation Center Gymnasium, 3020 Coronado Avenue, San Diego 92154. Information will be provided on the draft Master Plan alternatives being considered.

Find us at CrownAir's Executive AirPark (formerly Gibbs FBO). The original on-base Miramar Flying Club, we are now based at KMYF.

More than just a place to rent planes, we also have occasional social events such as fly-ins and air show participation. Flying club based at Montgomery Field (MYF) in San Diego, CA just south of MCAS Miramar.

Club VP Nigel W. and Dave P. (Ops) flew up to Corona Muni (KAJO) last Thursday 4/15 to check on the status of our C-172 N216AF being painted there. It is looking good! The base white coat is already on, and with appropriate areas masked, the green coat had just been applied. Yellow accents and detailing remain. The plan is to be able to fly it back on a ferry permit (expired Annual inspection) at the end of this coming week, where it will go right in for its Annual and then be back on the line soon thereafter.
