PARTY POOPERS OR PURE HOOPERS?
From the beginning of the NBA Playoffs, people started to make their predictions. We heard it all…
“Golden State Warriors repeating.”
“Banner 18 will go up this year. ☘️”
“LeBron James getting Ring #5. 🐐”
From opposite ends of the standings, the Denver Nuggets in the West (1st seed) and the Miami Heat in the East (8th seed) were never given a chance by many.
In fact, some already labeled the Nuggets as the “worst” or “least intimidating” #1 seed. While the Heat, being the 8th seed after losing a Play-In game, were crossed out before their first series even began.
Let’s face it, the charm of a Boston Celtics - Los Angeles Lakers NBA Finals will never get old. But when are we going to give credit to teams that deserve it?
Instead of talking about why the Heat and Nuggets are up 3-0, we have more people talking about why the Lakers and Celtics are down in the series.
There is so much more to appreciate on the winning side and we should give that same energy, if not more when we look at the entire picture.
The Nuggets are on a historic run so far:
🎖 Have never swept a team in a 7-game series
🎖 Never been to or have won the NBA Finals
🎖 Never beaten the Lakers in a playoff series
🎖 Clinched the 1st seed for the 1st time in franchise history
The Heat are maybe even on a crazier run considering that they are the 8th seed:
🔥 No 8th seed has made it to the NBA Finals in a full 82-game season
🔥 Unprecedented 7 undrafted players on the roster
🔥 Doing this without Tyler Herro and Victor Oladipo
The Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat are ONE WIN away from historic accomplishments, one win away from the NBA Finals, and one win away from proving the doubters wrong. More importantly, one win away from proving to themselves that they belong.
2 of the most disrespected teams are a game away from toppling 2 of the most iconic, winningest franchises in NBA history. Let that sink in.
We don’t know if these teams will get the flowers they deserve, but one thing’s for sure, the purest of hoopers are the ones that survive and make it to the end.
It’s time to put a stop to the disrespect. It’s time to acknowledge good basketball.
Nuggets and Heat, the best at the moment.
