Team Mindful 2 is being with this 21-day journey. GO TEAM! 💯🥦🥕💧🧘♀️🏋🏼♂️🏃🏽♀️
Perhaps you, like me, look up at the leadership ranks of our institutions and don’t see enough diversity represented.
And perhaps you, as I had a decade ago, are thinking to yourself, “Well, why not me?” Let's fix that.

Friends!
I have one membership to the 21-day Superlife Program starting January 2nd offered by 121Tribe and Darin Olien ($299 value)!!! Why am I giving away a membership? Well, I started using the 121Tribe app last year and saw pretty awesome results just on my own, but when I did the first group camp last spring it was a game changer. I want to share the health! If you are interested, let me know so I can add you to the random drawing to be drawn on 12/25.
THE APP
- You get forever access to the program on their app. So, yes you will go through the 21-day program with the community, but you can also do it on your own later.
- The app helps with meal prep, grocery list prep, and recipes making it easy to prep meals.
- It also takes you through other aspects of the program, like breathing exercises, mindful moments, yoga, water tracking, and knowledge.
THE COMMUNITY
- The program includes the app but also weekly community campfires on Sunday morning. They are fun and inspiring!
- There are also small group chats. You get added to a small team with a team leader. The team leader answers questions, pumps the team up, etc. You become pretty close to your small team. I am going to be a team leader! yay :)
- I think the community part was the big differentiator. It's diverse and from around the globe.
THE RESULTS
- I learned how to eat whole food, plant based and still feel satisfied and well-fed.
- I learned how to meal-prep and quickly assemble delicious food that felt completely nourishing. Bonus, Naomi loved the food, too!
- I find I have a much better day when I do my daily breathing exercises! I do them even when I am not formally in a program.
- I feel freaking fantastic when I am doing the program.
Note: I am unaffiliated with 121Tribe, I just love the programs, have had great results, and the founders are great.

Hello Friends! I want to thank you for your support as I challenged myself these past few months. No matter how it came through, it was and is SO appreciated. All in all about $2000 💸was donated to food pantries. Thank you!!!
I can say without a doubt that this is the best I’ve felt (physically 🏃🏽♀️, mentally 🧘🏼, emotionally 🧖🏽) in my adult life and I know there is more to come. I haven’t always felt this way and I know I’m not special. I’ve not always been particularly athletic. I’ve struggled (struggle) with food issues. I struggled forming habits. But what I did and do have is a relentless pursuit for growth.
I’m not who I was a decade ago. I’m constantly trying new things. Some stick and some don’t. And I’m loving the journey every step of the way. If there is anything I can do to support you in your journey to feeling fantastic, I am here! 🌈

THIS IS IT!!! The birthday month is upon me! In a couple weeks I turn 5-0. Before I get to the update, if you donate to Feeding America between now and my birthday (let me know if you do!) I will match it!
https://secure.feedingamerica.org/site/Donation2
Feeding America supports food banks around the country. Food banks were critical during the most challenging moments of the pandemic and continue to support the food insecure. So please donate, let me know, and I will match! It would be a great honor if you donated even a small amount 🧡
4 months down and 1 to go! For October I clocked 130 miles walked 🚶🏻♀️run 🏃🏻and biked 🚴🏽♀️ plus 39,000 pounds lifted 🏋🏼on my Tonal. (I LOVE my Tonal!)
If you happened to have seen some of my other posts, I’m challenging myself to running/walking/hiking/biking at least 100 miles a month for the 5 months heading up to my 50th birthday. Along the way I’m sharing more about my journey to feeling as healthy and vibrant as I can heading into my 50s.
October is about exercise. I used to have a love / hate relationship with exercise. I knew I should do it but often struggled to do it. For example, I used to hate running. Many years ago, I was working with a nutrionist / trainer who encouraged me to try running. With the busy schedule I had at the time (Naomi was 2 and I had a big job), it was the only thing I could fit in. I started my running journey while off for the holidays and I literally slowly jogged 0.8 miles my first time out. But I kept it up, increasing my distance 10% a week until I was eventually running half marathons and loving running ❤️
Running continues to be an important part of my life. It’s a chance to get outdoors, explore my surroundings, get the heart rate up, sweat, listen to podcasts, music or just think things through… I find running helps me feel great physically and mentally. I get that it’s not for everyone. The point is, give something a try and give it enough time so that you get past the sucky part 😎
These days, in addition to running, I bike, hike, lift, paddle board, and do yoga. And I truly enjoy it all.
Go get it!

2 months down and 3 to go! And for August I clocked 155 miles walked 🚶🏻♀️run 🏃🏻 and biked 🚴🏽♀️ .
If you happened to see some of my other posts, I’m challenging myself to running/walking/hiking/biking at least 100 miles a month for the 5 months heading up to my 50th birthday.
Along the way I’ll be sharing more about my passion - increasing human lifespan and more importantly health span. And specifically the shifts I’ve experienced and the things I do day in and day out to feel as vital as I can as I age.
In July’s post I talked about mental health. Because let’s be real, we have to have a life we want extending.
This months topic is climate change. Because let’s be real again, we have to have a planet we can live on safely!
What is great is that the things you do for your health also support the health of the planet. For example:
🥬 I consider myself vegan-ish. I try to eat mostly plants with just the occasional meat meal a week. Better for me and for the planet!
🚲 I try and bike to where I need to go instead of drive. Better for me and for the planet!
🧴I try and minimize plastic waste by making my own products, like homemade deodorant (it’s awesome!) as well as consume less overall. Better for me (my health and wallet) and for the planet!
💸 Finally, fundraising! The Climate Emergency won’t be solved by even a large portion of us making such changes. It’s going to take a massive effort from government and industry and that will only come with immense pressure. So I’ve selected the Climate Emergency Fund as the 2nd of three fundraising options. Read more and donate (link in bio or comments).

Hello, Loves.
I’m here with my July update! One month down, four to go. I crushed July (over 200 miles walked, run, biked) in part because I’ve been Maine by the sea with my parents. I know it will get more challenging when I get to SF and I’m driving my daughter to school, doing all the things, etc.
The foundation of a long and healthy life is mental health. It’s retaining the ability to have a lust for life as we age. This is a challenge for all humans. It’s the human condition, really, and our individual mental health journeys can vary widely based on many factors. We can all take steps, though, to set ourselves up for having the best chance of living a long satisfying life. ❤️🧡💛💚💜🤍🤎🖤
Sleep
Nutrition
Exercise
Mindfulness
Connection
Purpose
Support
I could write a ton about all these topics but instead will share my favorite tips or resources for each in the comments below.
Now for the fundraising bit. I’ll be sharing three different options over the span of this longitivtiy challenge. First up, The Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis intervention and su***de prevention services to le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r and questioning (LGBTQ) youth under 25.

No pressure to donate! I’ve set a fundraising goal to keep me focused and accountable.

In 5 months I turn 50. 😎 And my moonshot 💫 is to live happy and healthy until at least 100.
So, for the next 5 months I’m setting a goal of running 🏃🏽♀️ / walking 🚶♀️ / biking 🚴♀️ at least 100 miles. And raising 50 100 💵 dollar bills (that’s $5000 😂) between now and then.
It’s July 10th and I’ve covered just over 30 miles so far! 🔥
Stay tuned for posts on my progress, links to donate, and things I’m doing or trying to live a happy healthy life.
With Love
❤️❤️❤️

& I were back it. This time covering the important topic of recovering from a setback, specifically a recent setback of mine! Life is indeed a roller coaster and sometimes we need some help getting out of the dips.
Episode 8 - Paths To Healing: Using Intuition & Awareness
There is the saying “Slow and Steady Wins the Race”. When we feel the body giving us signals that something is wrong, our natural instinct is to rush towards a quick fix. Sometimes running to medications or “band aids” to ease any immediate suffering. But if we tune into and take the slow road to healing ourselves, we find that not only do we learn what our body truly needs, we are able to heal the issues for good. Through building this connection to our intuition and cultivating awareness, we begin to make adjustments to our daily lives and find the balance we need to feel good.

"Work hard, play hard" was my motto back in the day but frankly I just can't do it anymore. And frankly, it feels too damn good when I am disciplined about my physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Right now I am on fire 🔥🔥🔥 and super grateful for it.
This is something my podcast mate, Larry Salvatoriello, and I have in common. We both have a bit of an edge when it comes to our wellness. There is nothing soft about our approach. We approach our wellness like we do our work - with discipline, consistency, and perseverance, most of the time. We are not perfect!
It's easy to get knocked off our game. It's way harder to get back in the swing of things. In our most recent episode, Larry and I dig into what tricks work for us when we are climbing out of a wellness pit. Have a listen - the link is in the bio.

Is it possible to advance your career as a leader while working from home and juggling family life all in the midst of a pandemic? I say, yes!
The truth is that working harder will. not. get. you. there. It's one of the biggest fallacies of corporate life especially in tech.
Here is what is working for me right now and may work for you.
1. Prioritize the fundamentals every day.
⚡️ Sleep
⚡️ Exercise
⚡️ Mindfulness
⚡️ Nutrition
2. Ruthlessly prioritize what is on your personal and professional to-do list.
✅ Protect Your Schedule
✅ Practice Essentialism
✅ Go For Impact
3. Let go! Of what? The ego, your inner critic, your fear of failure.
💯 Delegate
💯 Get to Good Enough
💯 Have Some Damn Fun
I am driven to make in impact in the world in some small way. I am driven to continue to grow and learn personally and professionally. But I know with 100% certainty that it is both not worth it and is counterproductive to sacrifice my wellbeing or my family in pursuit of impact.

The Ripple Effect: Leadership Begins With You.
How do we show up in the world? In this episode, we will discuss leadership at the source. Learning to lead begins with YOU. It begins with authenticity and discipline and ripples outward. In previous podcasts, we have discussed how to chip away to reveal the best version of ourselves. Now that we have been working so thoroughly inward, and are feeling the positive effects, how do we begin to connect with our external environment? Join us in this podcast as we start our journey outward.

If there is ever a more tempting time to fantasize of what could be, it is now - in the transition to the new year. Especially right now after a year like we have had.
It's tempting to imagine how much BETTER we will be when we set those 2021 goals and meet them. The pandemic behind us. Seeing friends and family. Traveling again. 10 pounds lighter. 10 times smarter. More accomplished. More likable. More resilient. More happy.
But no matter how much we weigh, how much we have, how much we do, who we are with, or where we might be... there we are. I love reminding myself of this. Waking myself up out of the trance of the fantasy of future-me.
True satisfaction comes from being in this very moment however we are, wherever we are and finding the beauty. The beauty in the mundane, the beauty in what we take for granted, the beauty in fleeting moments of joy, the beauty in pain even. The beauty in the validation that we are real living, loving, feeling human beings. Or in other words... I want to wake up to the beauty of the reality of the now-me.
