✨Honoring Coach & Sensei Damon Keeve✨
Congratulations to Sensei Damon Keeve, a true San Francisco legend, with being inducted to the SF Prep Hall of Fame at the SF Giants baseball game last month in front of 40 thousand fans!!
While many know Damon Keeve as the head coach at , his impact stretches far beyond judo.
🏈 At Washington High, Damon earned All-City honors in football (’77) and continued to shine at City College and San Jose State in both football and judo.
📣 As a football coach, his career was legendary:
• Assistant coach at Galileo (1983–87), winning 2 Turkey Day championships
• Assistant at Washington (1988–94), winning 2 city titles
• Head coach at Washington (1995–2003), leading the team to 5 league championships, 4 Turkey Day championships, and an incredible 56-5-2 record
• Named AAA Coach of the Year in 1997 & 1999
• Later served as assistant at Lincoln, adding 2 more Turkey Day championships and 2 state titles
🥋 On the tatami, Damon represented the United States 🇺🇸 in the 1992 Barcelona (7th) and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games — competing at the highest level of Judo in the world.
👮 Beyond sports, Damon served the city as a sergeant with the San Francisco Police Department, dedicating his life to both community and competition.

A very special practice yesterday with SFJI’s longest tenured Sensei and President, Len Auerbach 🥋. Auerbach sensei carries the history of SFJI since the late ‘60s and has made tremendous contributions to the club, with the most recent, building the dojo’s permanent location! SFJI programs continue to thrive, thank you Aurebach sensei! ❤️
