Hey Keepers,
Itâs Easy to Snap When Youâre Doing Life Alone⌠Letâs Talk About Community
This week while I was home sick, I had the chance to finally watch the movie Straw. Now, I know itâs been getting mixed reviews, but there was one part that hit me hard and stuck with me. Watching Taraji spiral⌠it wasnât just about what she did. It was about why she snapped.
Lack of support.
Lack of family.
Lack of friends.
Lack of community.
She was trying to carry the weight of it all by herselfâeverything that life had thrown at her. No outlet. No shoulder to lean on. No safe space to process the pain or unpack the trauma. And honestly⌠sometimes, thatâs how life feels for a lot of us.
As I sat there watching, I couldnât help but think: That couldâve easily been me.
When life starts showing up⌠when grief hits⌠when trauma resurfaces⌠when youâre faced with things youâre just not mentally or emotionally ready to handle⌠itâs easy to snap.
But hereâs the difference: Community matters.
Having people in your corner makes the load a little lighter. Having friends and family who see you, check in on you, pray with you, or just sit with you in your low momentsâthat can be the difference between breaking down and breaking through.
So hereâs my question for you:
Are you building your community?
Do you have people you can call when life feels too heavy?
If you were in a crisis tomorrow⌠whoâs your 2 AM phone call?
And if youâre reading this and realizing your circle feels a little too empty⌠thatâs okay. But letâs start being intentional about building it.
Because letâs be real⌠itâs easy to snap when youâre doing life alone.

đ Impostor Syndrome: Sis, You DO Belong in the Room
âGod doesnât call the qualifiedâHe qualifies the called.â
Hey Sis đ,
Letâs talk truth.
Have you ever walked into a room you prayed for, worked for, cried overâonly to start questioning if you belong there?
Thatâs not humility.
Thatâs Impostor Syndromeâand itâs lying to you.
đŤ âIâm not good enough.â
đŤ âI just got lucky.â
đŤ âTheyâre going to find out I donât belong.â
That voice? Mute it.
Especially as high-achieving women of color, we carry a quiet pressure to overprove ourselvesâbut sis, hear this:
⨠You didnât stumble into purpose.
⨠Youâre not a fluke.
⨠You are called.
đĄ This weekâs Mindset Shift:
â
I am allowed to take up space.
â
Iâm not the exceptionâIâm evidence.
â
I can be both grateful and confident.
Repeat after me:
âI belong in every room God has called me into. I will not shrink to make others comfortable.â
Now breathe that in, and walk boldly.
And if no seat is offeredâweâll build the table. đ

đ° Money Monday: Protect What Youâre Building
đ Donât Lose the Legacy: Why You Need a Will or Living Trust
âA good man leaves an inheritance to his childrenâs childrenâŚâ â Proverbs 13:22
Hey Keepers đ,
We talk a lot about building wealthâbut what about protecting it?
Too many of us are out here grinding for our families, yet we havenât taken the time to secure what weâve built. If you donât have a will or living trust, your legacy could get caught up in probateâa costly, drawn-out court process that decides who gets what after you're gone. đ
Letâs break it down:
đ Whatâs Probate?
Itâs a legal process that can:
âď¸ Take months (even years)
đ Become public record
đ¸ Rack up court & lawyer fees
đĄ Translation: Your loved ones could lose time, money, and peace trying to access what you intended for them.
⨠Will vs. Living Trust:
đ A Will says who gets what, but still goes through probate.
đ A Living Trust avoids probate and gives more controlâwhile you're living and when you're gone.
Sis, donât just build itâprotect it.
đ This is legacy talk. Letâs normalize wealth and wisdom.
đŁ Tag a sister who needs this reminder today. Letâs secure the bag and the blueprint. đźđ¤

đ¤ Mental Health Wednesday: Check on Your Strong Men đ¤
Hey Keepers,
June is about more than sunshine and barbecuesâit's Menâs Mental Health Awareness Month and a time to honor our fathers. But letâs not forget to check in on the strong men.
You know the onesâŚ
đŹ The quiet ones.
đ ď¸ The problem-solvers.
đŞđ˝ The ones who carry it allâand say nothing.
Letâs be clear: they need us.
They need:
đ Listening over fixing
𤲠Presence over pressure
đ§ Space to cry, fall, and be human
This weekâand all monthâI challenge you to reach out to:
đ Your father
đ Your husband or partner
đ§ Your brother, uncle, son
đ¤ That âIâm goodâ friend
đŁ Our Black men are navigating a world that gives them pressure without grace. Letâs give them something different.
Be the safe space.
Be the arms that say: You donât have to perform strength here. Youâre seen. Youâre supported. Youâre loved.
We see you, Brother.
We got you. đ¤
