This version helps you feel that tendency to rotate the torso at that transition from where your bicep is by your ear, then you unscrew the light bulb.

Flexion to internal rotation.

Because the support of you upper body depends on that one arm, and shift in your torso becomes more noticeable on the other arm/shoulder.

There’s some saying about overestimating what you can do in a day and underestimating what can be done in a year.

When you’re deep in a hole you think clawing at the walls that surround you are useless.

If you do that long enough, all that dirt which falls becomes something you can stand on.

Do that every day and eventually you’ll come out of that hole.

When someone has been in pain for a long time it’s often difficult to comprehend that these little things done each day - matter.

Especially in the beginning.

But if you do these little things day in day out, if you commit to do it regardless of if you want to or not.

You’ll be better off in six months than if you had done nothing.

From another perspective we don’t always feel like training. Sometimes we have down days.

Working out and doing a little of something or even just moving around, is always better than doing nothing at all.

From a long time ago. When I still had space.

This is where @coach_rt3 and I first started talking about the mobility snacks that are now part of the membership.

When my schedule became really hectic I literally didn’t have a block of time more than 45 min free in the day.

But I had to eat(most days).

And study.

And the twins were 8 months old. We didn’t have any help.

So I broke my training up Into 15 min chunks.

Only having 15 min. Made me much more selective about what I would do.

This particular clip was just moving around and not part of training.

Just doing stuff that feels good.

15 min. Goes by fast.

And when you’re starting a habit it’s easier to chunk it.

When you don’t have time it’s easier to commit to 15 min.

If you’re precise and specific - even just two of them a day equal 210 min. In a week.

Accumulated time under tension is important for adaptation.

If your rehab or training is stalling look back to the basics and get better at them.

Find new ways to understand them.

Look for things you may have missed or tool for granted.

To me CARs should be basic.

And you can spend forever making them better.

They illustrate the basic needs of all the movements you want to do.

Upgrade your hip mobility.

Standing hip cars are great.

You could be losing a lot of benefit though.

If you’re spending time doing something I want you to get the most benefit that you can.

I spend a lot of time not necessarily changing what people do or what they coach, but how they do it.

Finding adjustments that provide high ROI serves to further the adaptation of something you’ve already learned, and that is often already a part of your routine.

So we have removed two obstacles- a whole new thing to learn, and, changing a larger chunk of your routine.

This isn’t the answer all the time.

It often though is the thing you’ve needed and didn’t know about.

Because if we had great understanding of an area, we likely wouldn’t have problems with it, or need to spend as much time/energy training it.

The goal mobility training consists of pushing someone into contortions for the sake of shapes or angles.

Mobility training serves to help you understand your body, expand what you’re body can do, and care for the only body you’ll ever get to occupy.

When I trained straight leg hip flexion for the first time - my ab cramp and fell over.

It was at the end of my first frc in a crowded ass room at the Nike world headquarters.

My brain didn’t understand what o was asking my body to do.

I was cocky and thought wtf I’m just gonna lift my leg up?

And I realized I couldn’t even do that.

And that humbled me.

I’m glad it did.

Because it put me on a path to really figure out how to help you move and feel better.

To feel confident and free.

To understand the gift that is your body.

And I want to share that with you.

Seattle was f**king dope.

We coming to Chicago on October 23rd.

Then Bay Area in November.

Our joints allow us to move.
.
The possibilities for movement between all the different articulations of all of the joints in all of their degrees of freedom - how many is that?
.
It’s impossible to train all those positions.
.
But you can train the parts that allow movement.
.
You can specifically train your joints to be qualified participants.
.
As you expand the capabilities of your parts, your potential resources for movement increase exponentially.
.
What you really want though is a little buffer for whatever it is that you do.
.
Creating that buffer also increases your ability to acquire skill.
.
Makes Your body feel good too.
.
