Today marks 4 years since my kidney transplant.

Today is a good day.

Wow.... it has been three years since Wade and I were at UCSF and he donated one of his kidneys. At the beginning, you celebrate the small victories like a week post-transplant with no complications. They gradually become bigger, two weeks, a month, six months even a year. To be able stand here today and be three years post-transplant with no complications is no small feat.

I am grateful for my brother’s selflessness, love and immense compassion. Without that, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy life as I have these past three years. Thank you for your sacrifice and for donating your spare. It has meant the world to me and will continue to.

Why I gave my kidney to a stranger — and why you should consider doing it too 04/12/2017

Awesome video on the kidney donation journey. This guy selflessly donated his kidney. The result was 4 people being able to live a normal life. This guy is a rockstar. I hope this story inspires people to think about all of the good they can do, whether it is by donating your spare kidney, donating blood, plasma, bone marrow or whatever. These are the type of acts that help make the world go around.

Why I gave my kidney to a stranger — and why you should consider doing it too It’s simple.

I owe a lot to my brother. Two years ago he went under the knife and sacrificed one of his kidneys in order to give me a normal life. For the past two years I have cherished and enjoyed life, all because of the selfless kidney donation.

Thanks for the past two years, I can't wait to see what the rest of the of life holds.

Advocacy Win on Food Labeling 05/26/2016

This a big win for Kidney Patients all over the US. When started with kidney diet, I had the hardest time figuring out what 'low potassium' foods were. It was extremely rare that any product actually listed potassium levels, so I struggled with keeping my potassium in check. High potassium is serious since it can cause heart issues.

Glad to see we're making progress so it will be easier for people(especially kidney patients) to be proactive with their health!

National Kidney Foundation Urges Support for Living Donor Protection Act 02/25/2016

Live organ donation is crucial. Anyone that does such a selfless act should be protected and not penalized for helping another person.

I got the final results on my biopsy today and everything is great! There is the smallest amount of inflammation, but it's barely even there so that's good. The previous biopsy showed inflammation that was almost borderline rejection, so I'm very glad that has changed.

Getting ready to be discharged from UCSF after my second transplant biopsy. Everything went well, but I'll know tomorrow the initial results - hopefully no swelling.

Here is what they did and the big needle they used!!! They use the ultrasound to guide the needle and then you hear a loud click when it takes the sample. They took two samples, so that means being stuck two times!!!

Thanks again for the hospitality UCSF!

Today is a very special day.... Today Wade and I had our one year Kidney-versary! A huge milestone when it comes to transplants and rejection.

I am so grateful for all of the awesome teams of people at UCSF that played a part in the transplant, all of my amazing co-workers who donated time so I could recovery properly and to the ever-faithful Kidney Brigade who continued to believe in me and helped keep me strong.

What I am most grateful for, is my brother. Without Wade, none of this would have been possible and I would not have the renewed lease on life I am currently enjoying. I will always be thankful for what you did.

Cheers to the first year - I hope to be able to celebrate so many more!!!

A year ago it would have taken me a half hour to get ready in order to go swimming - covering up my catheter and making sure it was waterproof in order to not get an infection.

Now.... we get to just jump right in!

I'm coming up on a year post transplant and I can't believe it has been that long already.

It's hard to think of what life would look like right now if my brother wasn't able to step up and donate. I could still be on dialysis or maybe I would have gotten a late night call from the transplant center saying I need to come in ASAP because they had a donor organ that was a match. The possibilities are endless, but none the less I am so grateful for how everything worked out.

I'll be taking a trip back to UCSF later this month so hopefully I'll have a chance to thank some of the great nurses/doctors/staff that made it all happen.
