Running on empty usually results in a sub-par performance... endurance events require a well practice nutrition and fueling strategy to ensure you begin your event with a full tank!
What’s your favorite pre-race meal?

As an athlete I’m not a fan of doing FTP tests, but as a coach I use them with new athletes to set a baseline for assessing current fitness.
The results of an FTP test are merely a quick snapshot of what resources you had available on that day so it’s best to head into the workout with no expectations and restrain from judging your performance too harshly... it’s just data to set some zones and boundaries to help you train appropriately on the path to ⬆️⬆️ fitness 😊

This morning I was reading ’s Morning Shakeout and he was referencing a training log from 2:10 marathoner, Parker Stinson, and had three main takeaways from the log, which apply equally well to triathlon! Check them out below!
1. Marathon [triathlon] training need not be fancy to be effective;
2. Train your stomach as much as you train your legs and lungs;
3. The goal of training isn’t to feel amazing on race day—it’s to equip you with the tools to still run well if you’re not feeling that great.
Basically... consistency in training, a tried and tested nutrition plan and enough understanding and knowledge to troubleshoot during the race are the 🔑 to a successful race.
