I’ve known Chris for over twenty years. He always greeted me with the biggest smile and somehow made every visit to La Villa feel like we were walking a red carpet. He truly took care of us. He’d always ask about my training, about fights, about the gym and he genuinely cared about the answers. He made every visit feel special, and somehow even more so when he would pull us off the line and not make us wait for our number to be called. It was such a small gesture, but it meant so much.
I had moved away from the area for a while, but when I came back, that was the first place I went to eat. Being welcomed back by Chris felt like coming home.
Without even knowing it, he taught me so much about how to treat people, how to make them feel special, how to take the extra few minutes at the counter to talk and catch up, and how to show up with genuine care. He treated my little family like he had known them for years, and he made them feel so welcomed into the Willow Glen community.
To say he will be missed doesn’t even begin to describe the loss our community has experienced. He was truly larger than life. His generosity, his spirit, and the way he showed up for people made a lasting difference in so many lives. His impact will never be forgotten and we will make sure it continues forward in the way we treat others and care for our community.
Our hearts hurt for the Bertucelli family. We are holding them in our hearts and in our prayers.
Chris, rest easy. You always were and are a beautiful soul, and we will never forget you. We love you. 🙏🏽
