Action Day Schools to WVDC Pipeline Spotlight, Makena🌟

Makena was 3 years old when she started at ADS Lincoln. With Miss Shannon as her very first teacher, Makena began dancing in preschool. As a kindergarten student, make was invited to be a Dance Kitten, which then led to her to become a Dance Cat and an All Star. Makena decided to take the leap into competitive dance as a high school freshman where she excelled in multiple styles including hip hop, jazz & lyrical. Now entering her senior year, Makena's developed passion for hip hop stands out as her favorite overall style!

Some of Makena's favorite dance memories are from nationals, getting to cheer on her friends as well as enjoy performances from other dance studios. Makena also loved dancing at Disneyland and Great America as those performance offer a unique experience to be able to hangout and have fun with friends after dancing. At the core, Makena's most cherished memories from class, being able to spend so much time with her friends and teachers while working hard, having fun and getting to know each other.

Makena's favorite part about Action Day and West Valley is the people. Having attended Action Day from Preschool to Middle School, Makena was able to grow up with a lot of the people she is still friends with today, something truly special to her.
The feeling of everyone becoming like family and the memories made together are truly unforgettable.

At WVDC we continue to be proud of our partnership with Action Day Schools, providing a nurturing conduit to the arts for students to EXCEL!!!

WVDC Teacher Spotlight, Miss Sophia🌟:

Miss Sophia began dancing at just 2 years old, and as her passion grew, she joined WVDC at age 8. She later became part of the first competition team at WVDC's Mountain View location, where countless performance opportunities and new challenges cemented her love of dance. She has trained in a wide variety of styles, with tap and jazz remaining her favorites.

After training as an assistant, Miss Sophia is excited to share her passion with younger dancers. She hopes to build a community where children feel comfortable facing challenges, growing in confidence, supporting one another and having fun along the way. Miss Sophia can't wait to continue her dance journey through teaching!

Our current families have loved the WVDC experience, and we are excited to welcome friends, neighbors, and new families to join the fun. WVDC Teacher Spotlight, Miss Lyndsey🌟:

Miss Lyndsey's dance journey began at just 2 years old and she has loved it ever since! Having trained in various styles such as jazz, hip-Hop, ballet, contemporary, modern, tap & more, Miss Lyndsey grew up on stage competing and sharing her passion through what she loved most. Throughout the many years, Miss Lyndsey has received various scholarships including The Joffrey Ballet School, Elite traveling teams, Alvin Ailey Summer intensive, and AMDA College of the Performing Arts in Los Angeles . After training for 16 years at her home studio, Miss Lyndsey was accepted into one of the most prestigious companies in her senior year and chose to continue her training in Los Angeles. During her time in Los Angeles, Miss Lyndsey has worked on various video projects, shows, and workshopping with some of the most well known choreographers in the industry. While continuing to pursue her professional dance career, Miss Lyndsey is excited to be back in the Bay Area to share her love and knowledge for dance as part of the WVDC family!

Does your dancer enjoy acting? Auditions for WVDC's 2027 production of "Toy Story" are coming soon! From Sheriff Woody Pride & Buzz Lightyear to Jessie & Bo Peep, WVDC is looking for actors to bring the characters of "Toy Story" to life! This is an amazing opportunity for your dancer to experience the audition process and grow their performance skills over the dance season!

Audition Details:
AUDITION DATE: Saturday September 26th, 9am-11am (OPEN TO EVERYONE)
CALLBACKS: Sunday September 27th, 9am-10:30am (INVITATION ONLY)
LOCATION: West Valley Dance Company 1272 S. Bascom Ave STUDIO 7 San Jose, CA 95128
REQUIREMENTS: All participants must be between the ages of 8-18yrs. Performers must be enrolled in two or more WVDC dance classes.
