As a toddler mom and nutrition coach who’s lost 30 pounds, here’s what I’ve learned about the intersection of weight loss and taking care of yourself:

Yes, the systems you put in place are a HUGE help. And so are the routines you build that fit your current season of life.

But before you do any of that—at’s

You have to learn how to stop beating yourself up every time you struggle.

Because when so much of your mental energy is going toward guilt, frustration, and wondering why this feels harder than it “should,” there’s very little capacity left to actually follow through.

What I’ve learned is that self-compassion creates space.

And from that space, you can START building systems that make consistency feel easier.

Routines that support the life you’re actually living, not the imaginary version where you have endless time, energy, and mental space.

Because struggling under a heavy mental load doesn’t mean you’re failing or doing anything wrong.

It just means you may need a different strategy or a different kind of support.

And if this is the kind of support you’ve been missing, this is exactly why I created The Balanced Body Method.

Inside BBM, we don’t just focus on what to eat or what workouts to do.

We focus on helping you build realistic systems that reduce decision fatigue, create consistency in a way that fits your real life, and teach you how to keep showing up even when life feels full.

Because sustainable fat loss doesn’t come from trying to be perfect.

It comes from learning how to make the next best choice again and again until those choices become the way you live. And doing it all from a place of taking care of yourself, rather than punishment.

Enrollment is open through tonight, and you can join for 10% off with code MOM10.

If you’re ready to stop relying on motivation and start building habits that actually feel sustainable, I’d love to support you inside.

A parenting quote I read recently has been sitting with me.

It said that our kids’ inner narrative is shaped by the way we speak to them and by the way they hear us speak to ourselves. Which hit me hard.

Because I want my kids to know how to work hard and stay accountable, while also knowing how to offer themselves grace when life feels hard.

It made me think about a conversation I had with one of my clients this week.

She came into her check-in feeling defeated. The scale had gone up. She hadn’t meal prepped. She relied on DoorDash all week and immediately labeled it as failure.

But when I asked her how those choices had actually benefited her that week, everything shifted.

She realized ordering DoorDash gave her the time to be fully present for her kid’s end-of-year play. It also gave her the energy and mental bandwidth to get through back-to-back interviews.

And once we acknowledged that, we could actually problem solve. We talked through emergency meal ideas, grocery delivery, and ways to better support her during extra full seasons.

Because it’s really hard to come up with solutions when you’re busy being a jerk to yourself.

I know some of you are reading this thinking: “I know that’s how I want to think… but I always default back to self-criticism.”

That’s exactly where coaching can help. Because while a coach obviously isn’t a parent, your inner narrative can absolutely begin to shift when you have someone helping you consistently reframe “failure” as feedback.

Over time, those reframes become your own thoughts. You stop seeing hard weeks as proof you’re failing and start seeing them as feedback.

That’s one of the biggest transformations I see inside Balanced Body Method.

Yes, women lose weight. But more importantly, they learn how to navigate real life without spiraling every time things don’t go perfectly.

I used to feel like I shouldn’t have to track my food in order to lose weight.

Like if I really understood nutrition, I shouldn’t need an app to tell me what to eat.

I remember looking at women online who seemed to eat intuitively and effortlessly maintain their weight, and feeling so frustrated that it felt harder for me.

I wished I could wave a magic wand and make eating feel easier, like I didn’t have to think about it so much.

Looking back, I can see how that mindset kept me stuck for a long time.

Because I was viewing tracking as “calorie counting”. Something restrictive, obsessive, and forced.

No wonder I gave up every time life got hard!

What shifted everything for me was spending a season focused on my eating behaviors first, rather than jumping straight into tracking.

I worked on building a regular eating pattern instead of skipping meals and hoping for the best.

I learned how to build balanced meals with protein, carbs, fats, and color so my body actually felt fueled and energized.

I practiced slowing down, paying attention to my hunger and fullness cues, and noticing how different foods actually made me feel.

And somewhere in that process, nutrition started to click.

I began to understand how different food choices impacted my hunger, energy, and progress in my body, and it felt so much more empowering to focus on that than to obsess over a number.

By the time I learned how to track my food, it felt so much easier because that foundation was already there.

And now, while there are still seasons when I choose to track, I don’t need to rely on it the way I once thought I would.

If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, “I just wish I didn’t have to think so much about food,” I want you to know that’s possible.

That’s exactly why inside The Balanced Body Method, we don’t jump straight into a calorie deficit.

We start by building awareness around your eating habits first, because when those foundations are in place, fat loss feels so much easier.

I’m eating so healthy—why am I not losing weight?

First, take a deep breath. I understand how frustrating it can be to feel like you’re doing everything right, but the scale isn’t budging.

You’re probably doing SO many amazing things towards improving your health, you might just need a few tweaks to your diet to help you move the needle towards fat loss.

For example, you may be eating a salad like my first example—filled with nutrient-dense foods like kale, chicken, quinoa, and squash.

And, your salad also has all the extras—things like cheese, nuts, and oils in large portion sizes that add up quickly in calories.

Here’s the truth: fat loss isn’t just about cutting calories.

It’s about building a lifestyle that supports your health first—balanced meals, daily movement, better sleep, stress management.

Once those foundations are in place, small tweaks (like adjusting portions of calorically dense foods) make fat loss much easier and more sustainable.

If you’re eating those “salad  #1” meals, you’re not doing anything wrong—you’re laying the foundation.

The next step is just making calorie adjustments that work for you, so you can lose weight in a way that lasts.

If you found this helpful, this is the exact process I take my clients through inside my group weight loss program, The Balanced Body Method.

Because losing weight isn’t just about “eating healthy” and “moving more”.

It’s about learning how to build the habits, awareness, and flexibility that make fat loss sustainable.
