I learned more about myself during this marathon than I did during months of training.

The day didn't go according to plan.

I ate fish and chips the night before. My stomach wasn't happy. I lost some of my nutrition early in the race. It was hotter than I expected. I got dehydrated, and I started the race about 10 pounds heavier than I planned.

By mile four, I was already wondering if I was going to finish.

The crazy part?

Physically, I had done everything right leading up to race day. My training was there.

What I didn't account for was showing up mentally fresh enough to handle adversity when it came.

That's when I realized the hardest part of endurance isn't always your legs... it's the conversation happening in your head.

Every mile after that became a choice.

A choice to keep moving.

A choice to quiet the doubt.

A choice to prove that the voice saying "I can't" doesn't always get the final word.

That's why I love running.

Not because it's easy, but because it has a way of showing you who you are when things stop going according to plan.

Growth doesn't happen when everything is perfect.

It happens in the space between "I can't" and "I did."

Every workout I build follows the same simple rhythm: one heavy compound to set the tone, one higher-rep compound from a different angle to add volume, then one isolation to really lock in the muscle and finish strong.

It's not fancy. It's just intentional.

For the longest time, I thought I just needed to pull harder.

More weight. More reps. More effort.

But my back never felt like it was actually doing the work.

The fix?

I stopped thinking about pulling the handle to my body and started thinking about driving my elbows back.

That one cue completely changed how the movement felt.

Instead of my biceps taking over, my lats and upper back finally started doing what they were supposed to do.

Another game changer was slowing the rep down. Controlling the weight on the way back instead of letting it yank me forward made every rep more effective.

Remember: the goal isn't to move the most weight.

The goal is to make the right muscles do the work.

Sometimes your biggest breakthrough doesn't come from changing the exercise.

It comes from changing how you perform it.

Your workout doesn't start with your first working set.

It starts with how you prepare your body.

Shoulders especially take a beating if you skip the basics.

A few minutes of mobility and a couple lighter sets can save you months of frustration.

Train hard, warm up smarter.

When the little things become personal. 🙈

If I only had 30 minutes, I'd focus on compound movements and run them circuit-style with little to no rest.

Why?

Because compound lifts train the most muscle in the least amount of time. Pair that with minimal rest, and you're building strength while keeping your heart rate high.

Would it be the absolute most optimal program for maximizing muscle growth? Probably not.

But if we're talking about getting the biggest return on your time, it's hard to beat.

Give me back squats, pull-ups, and push-ups.

Simple. Effective. Efficient.

Stop waiting for the "perfect" workout. The best workout is the one you can consistently fit into your schedule.

A year ago, I couldn't do what I do today.

Not because I wasn't capable... but because I hadn't built the environment to support it.

People see the routines, the discipline, the early mornings, the consistency. What they don't see are the dozens of small changes that happened over time.

I didn't change my entire life overnight.

I made one adjustment. Then another. And another.

Eventually those habits started fitting together like puzzle pieces.

That's how real transformation happens.

It isn't about finding more motivation or waiting for the perfect time. It's about creating an environment that makes the right decisions easier and the wrong decisions harder.

Your environment will always influence your habits more than your willpower.

If you want a different life, don't try to change everything today.

Just make one change you can actually stick with.

Then build from there.

A year from now, you'll be amazed at what those small decisions added up to.

It's the wrong place to make excuses because everyone around you is fighting the exact same battle. No one's special. No one gets a free pass. We all choose to do the hard thing.

Accountability isn't about being harsh.

It's about refusing to let someone settle for less than what they're capable of.

The people around you shape the standards you accept.

Choose your environment wisely. 💪

As your day winds down, start pulling carbs back.

High insulin fights the rest and digest mode.

Go higher protein, higher fat later in the day with low carbs.

Pre-workout, think protein and carbs, low fat.

Post-workout, high carb, high protein, minimal fat for quick refill.

Later, land on a balanced meal.

Clean, simple, sustainable.

Recovery's yin to training's yang... skip it and you're leaving gains on the table.

Active recovery keeps the engine oiled... walk, stretch, breathe. Motion's lotion.

But mental recovery matters too.

If your mind's fried, your body's not at its peak.

Do something calming you enjoy.

Prioritize sleep.

Reset both body and mind, and you'll come back sharper, faster, stronger.
