Healing isn’t linear. 🙃

Some days you’re thriving. Other days, you’re emotionally spiraling because a core wound gets triggered and you’re suddenly 5 years old again.

Progress isn’t never struggling again. It’s learning to meet yourself with compassion when you do.

You’re not failing at healing. You’re human. 💛

Give yourself the same grace you’re working so hard to give everyone else.

There’s an inner conflict in sharing my cancer journey as a therapist.

Part of me wants to be open about the vulnerability, grief, and uncertainty of this experience. Another part wonders how being seen in my own struggle might change how others see me professionally.

Therapists are human, too. I can teach self-compassion and still struggle to offer it to myself. I can help others navigate uncertainty while sitting in my own.

I’m learning that vulnerability and boundaries can coexist. I can share my story without sharing everything.

Maybe the work isn’t about being untouched by life, but about meeting ourselves with compassion as we move through it. 🤍

Sometimes, overthinking is under-feeling.

Your brain is really good at trying to solve things.

When something hurts, feels uncertain, or threatens your sense of safety, your mind may kick into overdrive.

Why did they say that? What if this happens? What should I have done differently? How can I make sure this never happens again?

We analyze. We replay. We problem-solve. We search for the missing piece that will finally make us feel better.

Because the brain wants relief from emotional distress. And sometimes, thinking feels safer than feeling.

If we can figure it out, maybe we can control it. If we can understand it, maybe we can make the discomfort go away.

But here’s the catch: Not every uncomfortable feeling is a problem to solve.

Sometimes, it’s an emotion to feel.

And sometimes, all that thinking is keeping us from the very thing we need to move through the experience.

This is where thought stopping can help.

Not by forcing yourself to stop thinking or shaming yourself for overthinking, but by gently interrupting the mental spiral and asking:

✨ What am I feeling underneath all these thoughts?

✨ What is my mind trying to protect me from experiencing?

✨ Can I let this feeling exist without immediately trying to change it?

You don’t have to figure everything out to be okay.

Sometimes, the path forward isn’t another answer, another analysis, or another attempt to gain control.

Sometimes, it’s taking a breath, coming back to your body, and allowing yourself to feel what you’ve been thinking your way around.

🔋 If you were a phone battery, what percentage would you be at right now?

100%? Feeling grounded, energized, and able to meet what life is asking of you.

75%? Doing pretty well, with some room to give and receive.

50%? Getting things done, but noticing that your energy is becoming a little more precious.

25%? Running on fumes, feeling more reactive, or struggling to show up the way you want to.

10%? Maybe it’s time to stop pushing through and start paying attention.

We spend so much time checking our phones to see how much battery we have left. But how often do we pause to check in with ourselves?

Not just How much do I have left to give? but also…

✨ What is draining my energy right now?

✨ What is replenishing me?

✨ What am I asking of myself that might be more than I have capacity for today?

✨ What would it look like to honor where I actually am, rather than where I think I should be?

Here’s the thing: Your battery percentage is information, not a judgment.

Being at 25% doesn’t mean you’re failing. Being at 100% doesn’t mean you need to give all of it away.

And sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is stop trying to override what we’re feeling and get curious about what we need.

So, let’s check in.

What percentage are you at today? And what would help you recharge—even by just 5%? 🔋

I created my business, Lighting the Path in 2022, to offer mind-body-soul coaching or therapy. Shortly after I created my IG page is for US, as a community, to support one another amidst the challenges of being alive.

As I talk about my breast cancer journey, I’m increasingly aware of the inner conflict that exists as a therapist who has been trained to disclose selectively. I value transparency and authenticity, which is why I’ve chosen to share more. I want to show up no matter what, in the messiness that is life.

If there is one silver lining in this heavy fog, it is this: as I walk this path, my commitment to my mind-body-soul practices has never been deeper. Breathwork, somatic grounding, gentle movement, and spiritual anchoring aren’t just tools in my clinical toolbox anymore; they are my lifelines. They are how I am staying tethered to myself through the storms of treatment and the quiet moments of reflection.

To my community, colleagues, and anyone walking their own hidden path of healing: thank you for holding space for me as I learn to navigate this vulnerable intersection of being both a healer and a human.

How do you balance the desire to be fully authentic with the need for privacy when life gets heavy? Let’s talk in the comments. 🌿✨

Breast cancer: a masterclass in uncertainty that I absolutely did not sign up for. 🙃

I thought there would be a plan.

Get the diagnosis. Make the decisions. Follow the treatment protocol. Check the boxes. Move forward.

How very cute of me.

Instead, it’s a series of decisions based on information that changes, conversations that raise more questions than answers, and the occasional plot twist that makes me wonder if anyone is actually in charge here.

Apparently, cancer didn’t get the memo that I’m a person who appreciates a little predictability.

But here’s what I’m noticing…

We spend so much of our lives trying to create certainty. We research, plan, prepare, make the right decisions, and try to anticipate every possible outcome.

As if, with enough information and effort, we can somehow negotiate our way out of being human.

And then life comes along and says, “That’s adorable. Here’s something you’ve never had to navigate before. Good luck!”

Sometimes there is no profound takeaway in the moment. Sometimes it just sucks.

We can be grateful, hopeful, terrified, angry, and completely over it—all at the same time.

Apparently, humans are capable of holding a ridiculous number of contradictions. Who knew?

So, if you’re navigating something you never asked for, maybe the goal isn’t to figure everything out or find the silver lining.

Maybe it’s to learn how to stay connected to yourself when the path ahead keeps changing.

And to remember that you don’t have to be graceful about every plot twist.

Sometimes growth looks like finding meaning in the mess. Sometimes it looks like saying, “Are you freaking kidding me?” and taking the next breath.

Both count.

What if we spent a little less energy trying to make life predictable and a little more learning how to care for ourselves when it isn’t?

The Paradox of Presence: Navigating Breast Cancer Through the Lens of S*x Therapy

There is a profound, almost surreal paradox in facing a diagnosis like breast cancer while simultaneously exploring the deep, vulnerable waters of s*x therapy and somatic reclamation.

When your body feels like a site of medical battle—poked, prodded, scanned, and asked to endure extreme stress—it is entirely natural to want to disconnect, armor up, or flee from the physical vessel entirely.

Yet, this is precisely when the life-affirming work of s*x therapy and embodiment becomes an anchor.

Why Embodiment Matters Under Extreme Stress
Trauma and chronic stress pull us out of our bodies. They tell us that safety is found in numbness or hyper-vigilance. But s*x therapy teaches us a radical alternative: moving toward sensation, reclamation, and aliveness, even (and especially) when the narrative around our bodies is heavy with fear. Embodiment isn’t just about pleasure; it’s about reclaiming agency. It’s the courageous act of returning home to a body that has changed, trusting that aliveness can coexist with healing.

Softening into the Present
Healing asks us to drop out of future-tripping and past-regrets, and instead, to soften into the messy, tender reality of right now. When we stop fighting the current moment and instead breathe into it, we open up space for profound grace. Pleasure, connection, curiosity, and deep self-compassion don’t vanish during a health crisis—they simply change shape, waiting for us to meet them with radical tenderness.

To anyone navigating their own complex intersections of illness, stress, and reclamation: May you find gentle ways back into your skin today. You are allowed to take up space, to seek pleasure, and to honor every single facet of your story.

My fundamental belief is that love is abundant.

And at the same time, I question whether I am worthy of receiving it.

My mind says, “Of course receiving is okay. It’s only logical.”

My body says, “It’s not safe to receive unconditional love, support, and care.”

My soul says, “Breathe. Receiving is a doorway into the vastness of what’s possible for your life.”

I’ve spent years learning how to give.

To show up.
To hold space.
To care for others.
To be strong.
To be independent.

Receiving has been a much more vulnerable practice.

Because receiving asks me to soften. To trust. To believe that love doesn’t always have to be earned through performance, productivity, sacrifice, or proving my worth.

Sometimes the greatest growth isn’t in what we accomplish.

It’s in expanding our capacity to receive what is already being offered.

Love.
Support.
Attunement.
Care.
Joy.

Perhaps healing isn’t learning how to give more.

Perhaps it’s learning how much love we can safely allow ourselves to receive.

✨ What part of you struggles most with receiving—and what might become possible if you allowed yourself just a little more?
