We have a date for our first Student Zoom! 🎉🐴

Based on everyone's responses, I've scheduled our Zoom get-together for Sunday, September 27th at 6:00 PM ET.

This is nothing formal. It's just a chance to get together, talk about how things are going with the course, ask questions, share what you're seeing with your horses, and work through anything you may be struggling with.

I'd love to hear where everyone is in their journey and offer some extra support as you work your way through the material if you need it. And don't worry if you haven't gotten very far yet... this is not a test! 😅 It's just an opportunity to learn more, ask questions, exchange stories, and connect with each other. Every horse is a teacher and I still learn something new from every horse I work with.

And if you'd rather just come and listen, that's totally fine too. There's no pressure to actively participate!

If there's anything in particular that you'd like to to talk about then please feel free to email me beforehand at [email protected] and I'll do my best to address it.

Meeting link is posted inside fb group🙂

Don’t miss out on this one! I’m not kidding when I say that I would consider attending again if I wasn’t leaving the country 😅 So much information. Great pictures and video demonstrating difference in, movement and loading of limb, change in posture, ground reaction forces, load distribution etc. The physics and science explained in an easy to understand way for the lay person. Can’t recommend it enough!

Wow… where do we even begin?

The last two days have been filled with nonstop education, meaningful collaboration, and countless lightbulb moments shared among like minded professionals.

Our facility was built with the vision of bringing equine professionals from every discipline together in one space to learn from one another, elevate the industry, and ultimately benefit the horse.

We have always said that Yogi has an incredible ability to share his research in a way that bridges science with what we do every day. This first clinic did exactly that!

Our second two-day session is tomorrow, Monday, September 14, and Tuesday, September 15 and there are still a few spots available. If you have been considering attending, jump on this opportunity. You will not be disappointed!

What a brilliant couple of days! I signed up for this clinic kind of last minute when a spot became available, and I couldn't be happier that I did.

Yogi Sharp of The Equine Documentalist covered an incredible amount of information in two days. Enough that I kind of wish I could revisit the whole thing again in a couple of days, after I've had some time to let it all sink in... 😅

I work with the equine body, posture, and movement every day and am very aware of the influence hoof balance has on the rest of the body. But still, I was blown away by the difference Yogi was able to create, right before our eyes, in the posture of the two horses presented during the clinic.

I also really appreciated how generous he was with the amount of information he shared and his genuine desire to make a difference and improve the welfare of the horse.

I always love being in a room full of people craving knowledge, and this time I also had the pleasure of meeting up with Kelsey Griffing of Kelsey Griffing Equine Bodywork LLC and Amber Moscato of Meraki Equine Sports Therapy. Amber and I also just realized this was actually our third class together! 😆

Of course several of the area's great farriers, vets, and osteopaths were there. A huge thank you to Terry and Clayton Florida Farrier Service, Inc for organizing and putting on a fabulous event!

Day one of Yogi Sharp clinic. This event is amazing!!!

Update: This clinic is truly an opportunity for any equine professional. Vet, farrier, bodyworker etc don’t let this one slip you by. I think they still have a couple of spots left next week.
Seriously if you’ve ever wondered, “but why?” This is for you. The reasons and physics behind why or why not things work, and how it affects everything in the horse’s body. I could geek out on this stuff all day😆🤓

So, what changed?

The way this horse organized his body and movement.

Dysfunctional movement builds on itself and can create more and more crookedness over time.

This horse had become twisted through his movement, with rotation traveling through his spine and his hind legs often stepping wide and to the right of his front legs. His canter, as I've discussed in previous posts, had also become four-beat.

A four-beat canter can happen in different ways. Sometimes the diagonal pair no longer lands together, with either the hind or front leg landing first. The sequence may become:

Outside hind → inside hind → outside front → inside front

OR

Outside hind → outside front → inside hind → inside front

In this horse's case, the diagonal pair would sometimes split, but most of the time it was the moment of suspension that was missing. His inside front leg remained on the ground too long, so the outside hind was already landing and beginning the next stride while the inside front was still grounded.

Recognizing dysfunctional patterns and learning how to correct them, rather than simply pushing forward with training and hoping they'll improve somewhere down the line, can make or break a horse. Literally.

My movement training takes a methodical approach to understanding functional anatomy so you can learn to recognize when something is off, understand why it might be happening, and then systematically show the horse how to reorganize their body and connect the pieces again.

I find that kissing spine, and how to address it through training, is deeply misunderstood.

This free Kissing Spine E-Book is a deep dive into my personal philosophy and approach to working with kissing spine horses.

I go over what kissing spine is, how it’s diagnosed, treatment options, and more, but then take you deeper into what I believe influences posture and movement, and how movement training can help create change.

It’s designed with the everyday horse owner in mind and includes my own illustrations to help you develop an eye for posture and movement and a better understanding of what’s happening inside your horse’s body.

FOLLOW THEIR JOURNEY 🤩

I'm so happy I decided to postpone the launch of my course so I could include Kyon and Wilma’s journey.

Getting to be part of their struggles from the beginning, and watching both of them learn these new patterns, has turned out to be an incredibly valuable part of the course. This section is a student favorite, and I really feel like their story helps bring everything together.

At first glance, the patterns I teach with the horse can look pretty straightforward and easy. But it never fails, when I teach this in person and hand over the rope and stick/flag for the first time after demonstrating a movement, the student's mind goes blank. They pause, look at me, and say, “Wait…what am I supposed to do again?”😅

That's why I think watching someone else go through the learning process is so valuable.

You get to meet Kyon and Wilma from their very first session with me and follow along as both horse and rider learn. You'll see the struggles, the mistakes, the problem-solving, and how much things like energy, body language, timing, and positioning can influence the way the horse responds.

But most importantly, you get to watch Kyon begin to transform before our eyes.

Inside their case study, I explain why Kyon was struggling, what was happening in his posture and movement, and how we addressed those challenges, first from the ground and then under saddle.

You get to follow their progress as they retrain posture and movement, work through challenges, and develop a better understanding of each other along the way.

Their journey is just one part of my Equine Posture & Movement Training Course, where I teach you how to stop guessing and start understanding what is happening in your horse's body, and HOW you can address it.

INSIDE THE COURSE:
✔ 7 Chapters & 50+ Lessons
✔ Functional anatomy made simple
✔ In-hand & under-saddle exercises

I just came across this while looking for something else, and this is pretty much where my movement retraining journey with kissing spine horses started. ❤️

This horse eventually went under saddle with a rider at the walk, trot, and canter. It took about four months of hard, dedicated work.

At the time, I didn’t yet understand the concept of spinal alignment the way I do today, so I never got him to the point where he fully understood how to collect. But his posture and movement completely changed.

He became brighter and more engaged. He started moving through his body, stopped stabbing his toes into the ground when he walked, and stopped tucking his tail tightly when moving. He became happy to be turned out again, whereas before we started the movement training, there were days when he wouldn’t want to leave his stall. Oh, and did I mention that he willingly carried a rider?!?!

Overall, it was a success. He accomplished more than I had hoped or dreamed, AND he showed me that I was onto something.

Since then, I’ve worked with many different horses, and I frequently have veterinarians referring kissing spine and other complicated cases to me, often with the comment, “I don’t know what she does with them, but it works.”😅

Every horse becomes a teacher to me and helps me look at them through a different lens. Since then, I’ve also released a free Kissing Spine eBook as well as my Equine Posture & Movement Training Course, where I share the way I look at these horses, along with real cases and the movement retraining process behind them. A resource for owners to learn my approach and how to apply it to their own horses.

And this guy? He’s one of the horses you’ll get to watch inside the course. ❤️

The cervicothoracic junction. One of the most important junctions in the body for balance, stability and spinal alignment, but unfortunately also one of the least understood by riders.
