Run by the Sea Run By the Sea 2022 - A Santa Cruz Run for the Coastal Rail Trail

Dear Run by the Sea Participants and Supporters,

It was with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to cancel Run by the Sea 2020 due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we considered developing a virtual format to replace this beloved race and annual benefit for Bike Santa Cruz County Education Fund, we felt that this wouldn’t adequately replace the natural splendor and communal experience for which Run by the Sea has become known and loved. We plan to return in the Fall of 2021 with an event which will deliver these signature qualities, while ensuring the safety of our participants, families, and friends.

In lieu of this year's race, we encourage you to spend some time running or walking by the sea with your families. We’re also humbly requesting that you make a donation to Bike Santa Cruz County to help continue our work to improve bicycling through advocacy, youth education, and community programs. As our way of saying thanks, for every $10 you donate to Bike Santa Cruz County before March 1st, you will be entered to win one of 25 free race registrations for the 2021 event! ($10 = 1 entry, $20 = 2 entries, etc.)

There is no limit to the number of entries per person, so the more you donate, the more likely you are to win! All donations will directly support Bike Santa Cruz County, a registered 501(c)(3) Nonprofit. Free registrations can be used for any event (4k, 12k, or Half Marathon), you’re welcome to use your registration for yourself or for friends and family.

Run by the Sea 2019 was an absolute blast. We'd like to give a massive thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, partners, and 519 runners that helped make this event the best one yet. Together, we raised more than $25,000 to support Bike Santa Cruz County's bicycle advocacy efforts, youth education programs, and community-building events - for that, we cannot possibly thank you all enough!
