We say goodbye today to Robert Redford, who passed away peacefully at his home in Sundance, Utah, at 89. Beyond his legendary career, he carried a lifelong love for horses. That love showed not only on screen — from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to The Horse Whisperer — but in life. While filming The Electric Horseman, Redford bonded with a spirited horse named Rising Star. Their connection was so strong that Redford adopted him, keeping him as a companion for 18 years until the horse’s passing. To Redford, horses symbolized freedom, healing, and wild beauty — and his bond with them will always be part of his enduring legacy.
