TSUNAMI FINISHES 3RD AT FLORIDA SWIMMING OPEN
WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS! 🌊

This weekend at Fort Myers Beach, Tsunami had a strong showing, finishing in 3rd Place for team scoring, with the Boys team finishing 2nd and the Girls team finishing in 5th, just one point out of 3rd place.

Leading the scoring was graduating Senior Payton
Griffin, with a win in the Open and Overall category 5K
race. Also in the Open division, Addison Golm added points finishing 16th. For the Open Men, Federico Restrepo finished in 8th place.

Among the 15-16 yr olds, Charles Shoemaker took 3rd, with Devin Williams placing 7th and Shane Fluck finishing 11th.

In the 15-16 Women’s 5K, Raina Prines took 5th place. Over in the 13-14y Girls 5K, Payton Portale finished 5th and Noveah Corn took 8th place. Juanita Gomez sailed past several swimmers at the finish to take a 16th place finish.

For the 13-14y old Boys, Trey Griffin finished 6th.
In the 11-12 yr old Boys, Ethan Zhang finished in 2nd place in the 11-12 2K race.

Other competitors were Scarlett Olsen, Adela Saladino and Mai Pham.

Congratulations to Payton Griffin on winning the 2026 Florida Swimming Open Water 5K Championship at Fort Myers Beach!

Payton took the top spot among 54 swimmers with a time of 1:06:36, beating the second place finisher by 1:12.

Along with achieving a Futures cut in the 200 Butterfly, he was awarded the Destination Athlete record breaker belt and earned a 1st Place finish in the event!
