Gearing up for the District Tournament this wkend in Alpena! Let’s get everyone healthy and excited to play! 💙🏒💛
We’ve got a couple of Hockey Dads that deserve a big thank you also!
Thanks to Scott Hockersmith for braving all of these cold rinks and running the penalty box for our coaches! We also want to say a big thank you for always volunteering to help with rides and hauling equipment! It does not go unnoticed and we appreciate you!!
And thanks to Joshua MacDonald for always being willing to find us places to have some good grub! Another tedious job that the coaches and manager always appreciate you taking off our plate. It’s so nice to have team meals and regroup together.
Please join me in Thanking both of these awesome hockey dads! Sorry I don’t have photos of you, but you are seen!

Our players….🥹🥹
We can’t thank these amazing kids enough. Losing is never easy, but especially at this age. These kids keep showing up tho. They keep working hard. They keep going. It’s easy to quit and give up when faced with a hard season, but they don’t and that shows and builds true character that will last a lifetime.
We have a very very young team. I’m sure they are very aware of the age gap and sometimes the extreme size gap when facing their opponents, but that doesn’t stop them. They keep showing up and doing their very best and that’s all anyone can ask for. A great example was this wkend. Their first game was tough, but they came back and that second game was really something. They could have easily given up after the first game and had a repeat, but they didn’t and everyone in the stands (even the other team) noticed! They kept that hunger alive while fighting off illness and exhaustion, and played two more amazing games Sunday too. That’s growth and they should be extremely proud of themselves, I know we all are. It’s easy to have a great attitude and spirit when you’re winning, but it’s admirable to have it when faced with adversity and our kids keep showing how strong and resilient they truly are.
So join me in saying a HUGE thank you to our amazing kids! We love you!!! Keep fighting!!

Our Coaches 🥹
It’s hard to find the words to express our gratitude for these guys. A lot of time this is a very very thankless job. All 3 of these men have very demanding high stress level jobs, which means they go from high stress at their jobs to the very demanding job of coaching.
Not only are they coaches of this great game, but they are caregivers, listeners, and diffusers and that’s just to name a few of the hats they wear daily. They all have to sacrifice sleep, family time, and personal time every single wk to make sure they are there for our kids day in and day out. No one knows the amount of effort and thought that goes into this volunteer gig. It’s much much much harder than it seems. It doesn’t end when they step off the ice at practice or leave the rink after games. It’s constant. And all 3 of these men take it all in stride and lead with patience and love. As said before, it’s a hard year. A learning year. A regrouping year. A growing year. They have kept their eye on the prize, which has been growth as hockey players and as good humans on and off the ice. Teaching them to keep working, to keep showing up, to not give up on themselves or their teammates when faced with adversity. Sometimes it’s about more than just hockey and our coaches know this. They never give up on these kids and that’s the most important thing you can ask for in a coach.
So please join me in saying a HUGE thank you to our coaches….Coach Josh, Coach Erik, & Coach Bruce! We appreciate you!
(I only have a photo of Josh and Bruce, Erik I’m sorry! I will get a photo of all three soon. Or if anyone has one please share) 💛💙

Next on our amazing list is KLani Carine (Kolten’s Mom & Coach Josh’s wife)
She is a beind the scenes contributor to our team, always ALWAYS there. She is an invaluable asset, making sure schedules and data are organized and correct! She is our second set of eyes and ears, making sure the kids and team are all set to go. Her family is always stepping up to help out with rides and watching kiddos when parents need help, she is our village. She is a seasoned hockey mom that knows what it takes and also a first to offer a lending hand and last (if ever) to complain.
She quite literally keeps our team manager SANE, always there to have things run by her to make sure everything is done correctly.
But most importantly she is the voice in the stands that is everyone’s biggest fan! She yells just as loud for every single kid on the team as she does her own, and that says everything you need to know about her.
So please join me in saying a HUGE thank you to Mrs. Levan! We appreciate you!

We saw our fellow Laker teams posting some appreciation post and we would like to follow suite bc it’s VERY much deserved and such an amazing idea!!!
So up first, Leslie Hovie (Carvers Mom)! She’s the all around Hockey mom! She is always one of the very first to offer a lending hand to our coaches and manager and last (if ever) to complain. She has been behind the scenes making sure we have hotel blocks set up, which is honesty an obnoxious job. She took on making Cabin Fever gear for our kiddos and they loved them!
But most importantly she is always sending out positive vibes and messages to our parents and kiddos. It’s been a tough year, one that requires us to focus on the growth instead of the wins and losses and Leslie is always remaining positive and showing love to the team. She’s an invaluable hockey mom to our team!
So join us in saying a big THANK YOU Leslie, we appreciate you!!💛💙
