TUESDAY TIPS - Show some Love this Valentines Day!

Why We Need at Least 8 Hugs a Day:

1. The nurturing touch of a hug builds trust and a sense of safety. This helps with open and honest communication.

2. Hugs can instantly boost oxytocin levels, which heal feelings of loneliness, isolation, and anger.

3. Holding a hug for an extended time lifts one's serotonin levels, elevating mood and creating happiness.

4. Hugs strengthen the immune system. The gentle pressure on the sternum and the emotional charge this creates activates the Solar Plexus Chakra.

5. Hugging boosts self-esteem. From the time we're born our family's touch shows us that we're loved and special.

6. Hugging relaxes muscles. Hugs release tension in the body.

7. Hugs balance out the nervous system. The galvanic skin response of someone receiving and giving a hug shows a change in skin conductance.

8. Hugs teach us how to give and receive. There is equal value in receiving and being receptive to warmth.

9. Hugs are so much like meditation and laughter. They teach us to let go and be present in the moment. They encourage us to flow with the energy of life.

10. The energy exchange between the people hugging is an investment in the relationship.

Katie has been a dedicated Rockstar member at LTF Schaumburg for 6 years now and you will often see her giving it her all in TCX, Cardio Kickboxing, Barbell and Vinyasa classes. With 3 kids and a full time job, Katie hasn’t let a recent shin injury stop her fitness motivation! She has been continuing to come to classes but even harder, she is listening to her body and modifying and taking a step back when necessary. She is determined to work through the frustration and do whatever she needs to in order to persevere and work her way to a healthy recovery. Thank you Katie for inspiring all those around you! 1. Print books have pages that are nice and soft to the touch. Paper makes reading physically pleasurable.

2. Print books are yours for life. The books you bought in college will still be readable in 50 years.

3. Print books are physical reminders of your intellectual journeys.

4. Print books are great to share. There is nothing quite like putting a book into a friend’s hand and saying, “You’ve got to read this.”

5. You can write in the margins of a print book, and underline the key sentences with a pencil.
