Schenectady Wargamers Association Since 1974, the Schenectady Wargamers Association (SWA) has been supporting tabletop gaming in the Capital District of upstate New York.

Currently hosting monthly gaming sessions (Game-a-thons) and an annual 3-day convention (Council) in the early autumn.

Friday 7pm:
Crisis in the Clouds (Pulp Alley):
“We interrupt this program for an important news flash…The President of the United States has received a telegram from terrorists, taking full credit for blowing up the prestigious international airship “The Sword of Damocles”. Radio contact has been made with the airship, which reports all is well. However, the threat to the Sword is being treated seriously and authorities are taking all precautions in case saboteurs are still on board…”

After a disastrous 1813 for the American invasions of Canada, the British and Canadians under Maj. Gen. Rial felt supremely confident that he could easily crush this latest invasion of the Niagara Peninsula in the summer of 1814. Gen. Scott had a surprise ready for the red coated defenders. Crucible of War is an easy and fast paced system with NO experience necessary. Novices and beginners wanted. Roll lots of dice and shout, “Huzzah!”

Saturday 2pm:
ATTACK OF THE GREYS (Don’t Look Back):
Over the last several nights, you and your friends have seen strange lights out in the woods. The atmosphere around Cabin 87 has changed. The air feels supercharged, and some of your friends have claimed to hear strange whispers coming from the shadows. Others claim that they seem to be missing hours from their night entirely. The local ranger has even stopped by to look for a couple of campers that haven't been seen in a few days. Tonight is the night, it's the Attack of the Greys. Run, hide, or fight, but whatever you do, don't look back…

Saturday 7pm:
“Green Hell!” The Battle of Su***de Creek.” January 5th 1944, Cape Gloucester (Crucible of War (WWII))
Experience the hell of jungle fighting in the Pacific. Elements of the 5th Marine Division. must take and hold Japanese positions on the far side of a creek. The Japanese must hold or die! Crucible of War is an easy and fast paced system with NO experience necessary. Roll lots of dice and shout, “Banzai!”

Our next Gameathon will be held on Saturday December 6, from 11am to 10pm at Proctors Theatre. Admission is $5 for the whole day, but free for GMs and students up to 12th grade. Good morning SWA,
First, a big thank you to everybody who attended CouncilCon! All of our GMs, volunteers, vendors, and players helped make a great convention, and we hope to see you back next year... if not sooner at Gameathon!

Speaking of which, we need events for our next Gameathon, on Saturday October 4. As always, we're looking for a wide variety of games including RPGs, board games, and miniatures; so feel free to send us whatever you're interested in running. Any prospective GMs, please submit the event(s) you'd like to run using our Google form
